Taking Sanchuanhe River basin in Loess Plateau as example, a monthly water balance model is used to assess climate aridification effects。 Based on hydrological simulation in the basin, according to the hypothetical climate scenarios, responses of runoff and soil moisture to climate change are analyzed consequently。 The results show that the two variables are more sensitive to precipitation change than that to temperature change。 But with decreasing of precipitation, the variables are less sensitive to temperature change。 Runoff and soil moisture would decrease 16。0% and 8。4% if precipitation decreases 10% only。 And if temperature rise 1℃ only, runoff and soil moisture would decrease 6。2% and 5。6%。 Under the hypothetical climate change scenario of temperature increase 2℃ and precipitation decrease 20 % , runoff and soil moisture would decrease 36。3% and 26。 9 % respectively。 Aridification not only changes the annual amount of runoff and soil moisture but also alters its distribution in a year, variations of the two variables in flood period is greater than that in drought period on the condition of constant climate change。
