STRUCTURAL FLOOD CONTROL MEASURES IN THE CRISUL REPEDE BASIN AND THEIR EFFECTS IN ROMANIA AND HUNGARY

Flood protection by structural measures has been practiced in the Crisul Repede basin for more than 130 years。 Some of such developments, particularly those implemented during the last several decades, are reviewed and their effects on flood peak attenuation are demonstrated for the flood of Dec。 1995-Jan。 1996。 Reconstruction of flood hydrographs for two cases, with and without reservoir storage in place, indicates a significant flood peak reduction on both the Romanian and Hungarian territories。
