Using urea and PEG-4000 together to control the morphology and dispersibility, TiO2 nanoparticles with a good dispersion, narrow particle size distribution and large BET were prepared by a hydrothermal method。 TEM, HRTEM, N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-vis spectroscopy were used to characterize the TiO2 particles。 The obtained TiO2 particles were a mixture of anatase and rutile in size of around 5 nm。 The function of urea and PEG-4000 in the synthesis process of TiO2 nanoparticles was discussed。 The photocatalytic activity of the prepared TiO2 particles was tested by the degradation of the Reactive Brilliant Blue KN-R dye in water under sunlight。 It exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity under sunlight, degrading 80% of the dye in 100 min。
