This paper deals mainly with the saline-alkali soil induced changes of wood structure in three species of poplar in Tianjin area。 The length of vessel elements, vessel diameter, length and width of the fibres decrease with increasing soil saline-alkali content in these species。 However, vessel frequency increase with similar soil condition。 In addition, some other differences occur in wood structure among these species in different soil saline-alkali contents。
