Formaldehyde is a bioplasm poison, whose toxicity is relatively high and potentially carcinogenic。 As one of the main indoor airborne contaminations, its detection is paid more and more attention to。 The limit of formaldehyde is lowest in the standard for indoor environment pollution control, only spectrophotometry of 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone (MBTH) among Chinese standard detection methods has the ability of judging whether the detection value is beyond the concentration limit due to its lowest detection limit。 Spectrophotometry of MBTH is the main and arbitration method to detect indoor formaldehyde concentration by the GB50325-2001, GB/T18883-2002 and GB/T18204。26-2000 in China。 But there are no domestic specialized rules on standard detection methods to ensure the accuracy and precision of the method。 Therefore, there are not enough thorough and deep researches now, which leads to inconvenience in practice。 In order to resolve the above problems, according to the characteristics of the formaldehyde in indoor air, the operation of that method has been studied in depth on the basis of spectrophotometry of MBTH。 We have improved such aspects as sampling point location, sampling time, and source of uncertainty in air sampling operation。 The best quality control measures of formaldehyde detection in indoor air are determined。 Such methods become more suitable for detecting formaldehyde in indoor air to ensure the accuracy and precision of the method。 The formaldehyde contents of indoor air in fifteen newly decorated houses were detected with the improved spectrophotometry of MBTH by three independent experiment groups。 The experiments have demonstrated that the above detection method, which has met the improved requirement of the detection method improvement, is characterized by high correctness, precision and reliability。
