Mine tailings are dependent not only on interacting geochemical and physical processes but also on the temporal and spatial scales at which they are assessed。 This paper addresses the problem of tailings change detection in multitemporal remote-sensing images。 In particular, an approach to supervised change detection, suitable to be used with multispectral multisensor data, is presented。 This approach incorporates multitemporal ASTER SWIR data, Landsat ETM+ data, spectral unmixing method, Post Classification Comparison (PPC) and differencing change detection map。 Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach to detect tailing changes occurring through space and time in the Jebel Hallouf-Bouaouane mine site, in the North of Tunisia。
