Supply chain management (SCM) in the manufacturing industry has attracted most researchers’ interest。 However, not many studies are found on the SCM in the tourism industry。 This paper focuses on SCM in the tourism service context。 Through an extensive literature on SCM and service management theories, and a large survey with questionnaires to different levels of the local government, tourism operators and tourists, this paper examines the characteristics of tourists’ destination, identifies and explores the desirability in tourism service supply chains (TSSC) from different perspectives。 Meanwhile, it also provides a systematic and theoretical review of economics and complexity scientific studies for the philosophy and framework of desirability in building the tourists’ destination。 This research on TSSC is expected to provide some valuable insights into the service supply chain to the academia and to the practitioners in tourism and hospitality industry。
