Crack propagation simulation in spur gear tooth root using ANSYS

This paper investigates crack propagation in spur gear tooth root using software of ANSYS。 In the framework of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM), the stress intensity factor (SIF) at crack tip at different crack length is calculated using displacement correlation technique (DCT)。 The crack propagation cycles are predicted by Paris law。 The FRANC2D software is also applied to get results for comparison。 The objective of this paper is to provide preliminary results for future work on integrated method for equipment health prognostics。
