Reliability Analysis Based on Hybrid Response Surface Method for Laminated Composites

The advanced fiber-reinforced laminated composites are widely used in a variety of engineering applications such as aerospace, marine, mechanics, and civil engineering for weight savings, but it has more inherent uncertainties than metals。 Therefore, the reliability-based probabilistic design that can be considered structural uncertainties quantitatively is required。 Furthermore, an approximate method such as response surface is necessary to satisfy accuracy and computational efficiency because reliability analysis is required the high computational cost for the large structure that contains many random variables。 In this paper, the hybrid response surface method(classified into method 1 and 2) is proposed and examined to improve the efficiency during the analysis procedure and the accuracy of result To verify the performance of hybrid response surface method, we conduct the reliability analysis for wingshaped laminated composite plate using COMSOL-MATLAB interface。 The result of the calculation using proposed method is more similar to exact solution than general response surface method。 The method 1 is relatively excellent accuracy in wide region of limit state equation, and the method 2 is more accurate than the method 1 in the estimation of the MPP coordinates。
