Broomcorn millet originates from the Yellow River Basin of China, has been admitted gradually by archaeological excavations and agricultural historians。 The cultivation of broomcorn millet in China has a long history about nearly 10000 years。 The historical development is mainly divided into five periods as follows: period before Shang and Zhou dynasty (Domestication and Cultivation) → Qin and Han dynasty (Main Cultivation Crop) → Sui and Tang dynasty (General Cultivation Crop) → Ming and Qing dynasty (Minor Cultivation Crop) → Today (Featured Collocation Crop)。 In future, cultivation and planting development of broomcorn millet should make a special effort on improving quality, processing application and meeting people's increasing needs in health diet and primary ecology of nature。
