Air Quality Assessment in Gorj County

扫码查看
Air pollution determines the change in composition of the atmosphere, due to the presence of several substances the quantities and the characteristics of which may change the normal conditions of the environment representing either direct or an indirect danger for human health or the ecosystems。 Therefore, the acidifying process, i。e。 changing the natural chemical characteristic of the environment, determines a series of atmospheric chemical reactions leading to the change in pH of precipitants and even of the soil。 The atmospheric emissions of acidifying substances such as SO_2 and NO_x, resulted mainly from fossil fuel combustion, such as they happen in Gorj County may persist within the atmosphere for several days and may be carried to thousands of miles away until the acid conversion (sulphuric, respectively nitric) takes place。 The brown coal consuming heating plants constitute air pollution sources being assessed by the present paper。 It should be mentioned that during certain periods of 2010, in Gorj County, only SO_2 and CO pollutants where monitored, because the nitrogen oxide and particulate matter analysers (PM-10) were broken。 The final purpose of the direction of the information obtained through environmental monitoring in Gorj County, dealt with by the paper is to practically realise the "environmental assessment" concept required during the implementation of certain plans and programmes, considering them as well in taking decisions according to the regulations in force。
