Moso bamboo is a kind of rich forest resource in China and it is selected as structural material and tested in this paper。The cpmpressive strength,shear properties,bending properties,tensile strength and bolt connecting performance are tested and the test results shows that the main mechanical properties of bamboo pole are better than those of TC13 grade of coniferous wood。Several types of metal connections such as U-hoop and "8"-hoop are presented for connecting bamboo poles with other materials and the manufacture standardization is basic fulfilled with utilizing the metal connectors。Two pieces of shear walls made by bamboo poles are conducted the lateral resistance tests。The lateral resistance capacity of this kind of shear wall is about 65% compared with the same wall of light wood structure。A prefabricated bamboo pole demonstration house with construction area of 50m2 has been designed and constructed according to prefabricated assembling method and modularization of elements。A set of solar heat collection system is installed on the roof and a new type energy storage floor is used in the demonstration house。The demonstration house has been used for about three years and its condition is perfect。
