Application of Virtual Reality Technology Based on the Network to the Casting Production Process

Casting is an important production technology。 Because of the high resource consumption and serious pollution,it is difficult to fully observe and understand the whole process in reality production。 Virtual reality is a high-tech in recentyears。 It provides personalized and three dimensional visual。 This paper will focus on the process of sand casting ofnon-ferrous alloys。 By using virtual reality technology, the casting process is revealed comprehensively under networkenvironment。 Firstly, virtual reality technology and its application in different areas are introduced。 Then we build the virtualreality system architecture in casting process。 As the model in virtual reality system differs from conventionalthree-dimensional model, this paper describes the model treatment in detail, converts the model and motion data into thedata format that web browsers can identify。 Finally we use the latest Internet graphics standard WebGL to rendering themodels。 This virtual reality display system is based on B/S architecture, and it can be observed in a web browser。 It hasthe characteristics of cross-platform and light-weight。 Using this technology, the rendering acceleration is achieved to ahardware level。 As a result, the full range of virtual display is carried out。 Furthermore, the users can have an insightfulview and perspective understanding of the casting process。
