Establishment of a Climate Change Research Center (CCRC) in Egypt

Egypt is in the process of establishing a Climate Change Research Center (CCRC)， the first one in the country。 The aim of the CCRC in Egypt is to compile， analyze， tabulate and present available information and data about climate change and the effect of different factors on climate from multiple local and global sources in Egypt， the Arab region， Africa， and the rest of the world。 Another important purpose related to the CCRC is to perform full coordination with all relevant research centers on Climate Change (CC) inside and outside Egypt and prepare Annual Work Plans (AWPs) for research and related activities (guided by what is stated in the strategic work of the ministries and bodies concerned in Egypt and abroad， and international bodies that work in the relevant topics)。 Included in the CCRC approach is the study of all information， proposals and research related to reducing emissions or methods to adapt， as well as on technology transfer (from local， regional and global sources)， follow-up and discussion with the concerned authorities in Egypt。 The CCRC will also prepare appropriate recommendations regarding CC for implementation in Egypt to be included in the annual work plan of the country。 In order to help make decisions in a timely manner and in accordance with the Terms of Reference (TOR)， some activities conducted by CCR will include: 1。 Recording and circulating of information and data automatically， and connecting Egypt's center with all stakeholders inside and outside the country。 2。 Conducting technical， economic， social， political， and legal research (solo or with cooperation with others)， which will result in recommendations for decisionmakers to cope with environmental problems affecting the climate。 3。 Coordination with the concerned authorities (both inside and outside Egypt) with respect to disasters caused by environmental changes， and how to take the appropriate decisions in this regard (according to the criteria identified in this area)。 4。 Establishment of some research projects (either alone or in collaboration with others) and follow-up of various projects with the relevant authorities within Egypt that affect emission reduction and improve the climate。 The CCRC organizational structure will consist of a Board of Trustees and many Sectors related to the different areas affected within the topic of climate change。 To help achieve its purpose， the CCRC will share relationships with several institutions inside and outside Egypt。
