China is one of the largest sources of foreign investment in Cambodia,and the investment from China has a profound impact on Cambodia''s economic and social development.The analysis of the current situation,impact and influencing factors of Chinese investment in Cambodia will help Cambodia to better utilize the investment from China and promote its own development.Under this research background,this thesis makes an in-depth analysis of the current situation,impact and influencing factors of Chinese investment in Cambodia,and puts forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions accordingly. First of all,this thesis analyzes the current situation of Chinese investment in Cambodia from the perspectives of time trend,spatial distribution,industrial structure,actors and forms.It finds that,affected by the COVID-19,the scale of Chinese investment in Cambodia declined in 2021,However,the trend of Chinese FDI in Cambodia is on the rise;From the perspective of space distribution,Chinese FDI in Cambodia is mainly distributed in special economic zones;From the perspective of industry structure,Chinese investment in Cambodia is mainly concentrated in agriculture,mining,garment,energy,transportation,real estate and tourism;From the perspective of actors,Chinese enterprises and banks are the main actors of Chinese investment in Cambodia;From perspective of investment form,Chinese businesses deploy their operations abroad using a variety of strategies,such as wholly-owned projects,joint ventures,BOT and contracting.Secondly,from the perspective of impact,investment from China has promoted Cambodia''s economic growth,increased Cambodia''s employment opportunities,accelerated Cambodia''s infrastructure construction and improved Cambodia''s technological level.Thirdly,from the perspective of influencing factors,good diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia,the Belt and Road Initiative and Cambodia''s rapid economic growth are favorable factors,while defects in the institution and legal structure,backward infrastructures,lack of skilled labor and political instability are unfavorable factors.Finally,this thesis puts forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions,including improving institutions and laws,strengthening infrastructure construction,developing education and improving the quality of labor force,and maintaining political stability. This thesis is one of the few documents that have conducted a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of Chinese FDI in Cambodia.It will make a marginal contribution to the research of FDI in less developed countries,and it has implications for Cambodia and other less developed countries on how to make better use of FDI.
