A modified T-F function method is proposed in this paper to resolve global optimisation and it is proved that under come assumptions this method has two characteristics of tunnelling function and filled function. It is indicated that the modified T-F function is effective in finding better minimiser by numerical tests from test functions. Non-linear optimisation model is utilised as an example of supply chain and is calculated with this algorithm.

To bring forth the full benefits of STP, this study presents a conceptual framework that takes into consideration the distinction between internal processes and external processes as well as the integration level and connectivity between the two types of processes. Cumulative benefits from the implementation of such a conceptual framework are discussed. Moreover, this study identifies two clusters of critical success factors (CSFs) and four suitable models to guide STP implementation practice. Case studies in the end exemplify benefits attained from implementing STP with sensible consideration of CSFs and proper application of implementation models.

The theoretical review indicates that the companies use the web for both transactions and communication. In the first case, this increases efficiency. In the second, it offers diverse uses. The review also shows that such advantages may be obtained whether the web is the principal business driver or not. As such, this work addresses the profile of web use in order to answer the following question: Is the use of the web in relationships a source of competitive advantage for companies in the IT segment participating in alliances? Descriptive, factorial statistics and ANOVA were utilised, and the results show that the predominant use of the web is concentrated in communications, which denotes the characteristic of a support tool that this technology assumes for these companies more than as a driver for obtaining advantages. This questions some theoretical views that state that the adoption of this technology is a condition for company survival in the market.

Capacity constraints, demand uncertainty, and the value of supply information sharing

Supply chain integration is essential for effective supply chain management, whereas information sharing is a necessary condition for integrated supply chain operations. Supply chain information sharing (SC1S) research is more on demand-side than on supply-side. This paper simulates operating activities with and without supply information sharing in a three-level capacitated supply chain by using a simulation model with mixed-integer programming. The simulation results indicate that supply information sharing can greatly improve supply chain performance in terms of cost and service level. The impacts of supply information sharing on the supply chain performance are heavily influenced by demand patterns and capacity tightness.

Multi-component machine repair problem with unreliable repairman, reboot, imperfect recovery and retrial

The concepts of reboot and recovery are incorporated to portray the real time manufacturing/production system dealing with automatic machines. A failed unit is automatically detected and fixed with a coverage probability. In case of unsuccessful recovery, the fault is cleared by reboot or reset operation. If the server is in idle state, the person taking care of the failed units joins the orbit and retries again and again for the repair of the failed units. To explore the transient state behaviour of the machine repair system, we establish various performance measures in terms of transient state probabilities of the number of failed units present in the system. Further, a comparative analysis of performance measures is presented for different system configuration. The feasibility of implementation of soft-computing technique is explored by computing the performance measures using adaptive network-based fuzzy interference systems (ANFIS).
