This instrument development study presents the first phases of a new instrument. It established a conceptual definition of nursing's bodywork and initial psychometric properties of the Nursing Bodywork Instrument. Literature sources generated codes and clusters for item development. Literature‐based and expert content validity were demonstrated. A pilot study tested nurses' (N?=?53) agreement with draft items. The highest‐ranked items confirmed nurses' bodywork and reliance on technological devices when giving direct patient care. Known groups validity testing by groups' years as a nurse did not differ statistically. Internal consistency reliability was 0.98 on the 128‐item instrument, pointing to the need for future reduction. Inter‐item correlations suggested that factor analysis with a large sample size might generate domains descriptive of nursing's bodywork. A total of 125 items resulted from item analysis and subsequent item revision. All items were matched with clusters; for example, technologic device management, physical comfort facilitation, skin/wound management, self‐care facilitation, and respiratory management include some item clusters.

Evaluation of the caregiving roles and attitudes of nurses is critical in the current crisis. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the caregiving roles and attitudes of nurses during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods A quantitative descriptive study was performed with 130 nurses in Turkey. The attitude scale for the caregiving roles of nurses (ASCRNs) was used to collect data. We conducted an online survey between May and November 2020. Results The mean total score of the participants on the ASCRN was 62.20?±?18.42. All nurses stated that they were affected by the COVID‐19 pandemic. The ASCRN scores of nurses who received training about the COVID‐19 pandemic and who thought that the personal protective equipment they used was sufficient had statistically higher scores on the ASCRN (p?<?.05). Conclusion The results of this study suggested that the COVID‐19 pandemic had a negative effect on the caregiving roles and attitudes of the nurses.

Aim To gain insight into the experience of “being” tattooed where breast(s) once occupied space, six women with mastectomy tattoos were interviewed. Methodology The teachings of Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics were engaged to better understand what it means “to be” tattooed postmastectomy. Results and Discussion Discoveries include feeling sad and damaged postmastectomy, embodying the tattoo as a novel representation of self for women living without breast(s), and reclaiming power, control, and confidence in a way that is symbolically meaningful. Conclusion Health care providers working with women diagnosed with breast cancer are invited to learn from women with mastectomy tattoos and to consider expanding discourse about care to include options beyond breast reconstruction.

The present study compared the coping strategies between Italian nurses working in Covid‐19 and in other units and it explored whether socio‐demographic and work‐related variables moderate the relation between the type of unit and coping strategies. Methods A web‐based questionnaire that included sociodemographic and work‐related questions and the Coping Orientation to Problem Experienced—New Italian Version‐25 item was administered. Moderation effects between variables and coping strategies were analyzed using generalized linear models. Results 253 nurses participated. Nurses who worked in a Covid‐19 unit had significantly lower scores on Avoidance Strategies subscale and higher scores on Positive Attitude and Social Support subscales than nurses working in other units. Discussion Gender differences emerged only on the social support coping dimension, with women being more likely to adopt social support than men. No association between the type of unit and the other coping strategies was found. Conclusion Nurses working in Covid‐19 units showed better coping strategies than their colleagues: this suggests that support interventions aimed to promote coping strategies should be offered also to Covid‐19‐free units' nurses.

Such inadequate levels of self‐care necessitate a thorough investigation of the potential predictors. Purpose To: (a) determine the level of self‐care among persons with heart failure in Jordan; (b) determine the relationship between mindfulness, impulsivity, and self‐care among persons with heart failure; (c) investigate the potential moderation effect of impulsivity on the relationship between mindfulness and self‐care. Methods A cross‐sectional study was conducted. A convenience sample of 100 persons with heart failure in an outpatient clinic at King Abdullah University Hospital was recruited. The following tools were used to collect the data via phone survey: Self‐Care of Heart Failure Index, Barratt Impulsiveness Scale, and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale. Results The sample consisted of 78 male and 22 female persons with heart failure. The effect of mindfulness was statistically significant only on self‐care symptom perception, and not significant on other aspects of self‐care. Impulsivity moderated only the effect of mindfulness on self‐care symptom perception. Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between mindfulness and impulsivity (r?=??.532, p?<?.01). Conclusion Mindfulness is likely to improve at least one aspect of self‐care (self‐care symptom perception) and reduce impulsivity among heart failure persons.

While evidence has demonstrated that working in a favorable environment with greater interprofessional teamwork is essential in increasing nurse retention, few studies have explored the mechanism underlying this relationship. Aim To examine the direct and indirect effects of interprofessional teamwork on nurses' intentions to leave their jobs via the intermediary roles of job satisfaction and burnout. Methods A cross‐sectional study was conducted to collect data from 2113 nurses working in 21 hospitals in Oman. Data were collected using a survey questionnaire measuring teamwork, job satisfaction, burnout, and intention to leave. Logistic regression was used to investigate the direct effect of teamwork on intent to leave. A sequential mediation model was conducted to examine the mediating role of job satisfaction and burnout. Results Interprofessional teamwork was directly associated with nurses' intentions to leave. The influence of teamwork on intention to leave was indirectly mediated by both job satisfaction and job burnout. Conclusion Findings illustrate the potential benefits of enhancing interprofessional teamwork in reducing nurses' intentions to leave. Interventions intended to foster teamwork could create satisfying workplaces, reduce perceived burnout, and ultimately contribute to organizational strategy for reducing nursing shortages.

Methods A total of 261 nursing students from the third and fourth academic years at one major educational institution were recruited using a quantitative cross‐sectional study design. Results The participating nursing students reported high scores on the level of all domains of reflective practice as well as on the level of student satisfaction, where 3rd year students scored higher on the level of reflection with others (p?=?.03), as well as the reflection on action domains (p?<?.01). A significant correlation was found between reflection and satisfaction (p?<?.01), where reflection explained 6.87% of the changes in variance of satisfaction. Conclusion Nursing students who took part in this study has demonstrated a positive regard towards reflective practice and indicated high correlated satisfaction with learning.

Purpose This purpose of this qualitative study was to analyze APRN interview data to evaluate how prepandemic APRN practice barriers, executive orders, and the pandemic affected APRN practice in Tennessee. Methods Fifteen Tennessee APRNs who completed the National APRN Practice and Pandemic study also completed follow‐up interviews via a HIPAA‐compliant Zoom platform. Given the unprecedented circumstances associated with the COVID‐19 pandemic, we conducted a qualitative descriptive study seeking descriptions and unique perspectives of Tennessee APRNs. Consistent with qualitative study design, we conducted an atheoretical study that featured interviews, purposeful sampling with maximum variation sampling, and content analysis. Results The major themes were practice changes, impact of executive orders, and ongoing care barriers. The data revealed that patients, APRNs, and other health care providers were strained in new and profound ways during the pandemic. An underlying theme was Tennessee APRNs' frustration with continued regulatory and other practice barriers despite their state's health and health care disparities and under resourced health care system. Conclusion These findings indicate the need to improve care access and health outcomes, advocate for full practice authority for APRNs, support telehealth expansion, address transportation deficiencies, and respond to the pandemic‐precipitated mental health crisis.
