The Monte Carlo (MC) simulation was applied to evaluate the shielding capacity of the investigated glasses. The results recorded by the MC code showed that the replacement of the SiO2 by Bi2O3 causes a significant increase in the investigated glasses shielding capacity. It is varied from 46.732% to 104.207% for the samples containing 20 and 40 mol% of Bi2O3 concentrations compared to the sample containing only 10 mol% of the Bi2O3 at low gamma-photon energy of 0.224 MeV. Moreover, the highest mu values in the present study were received by the glass sample containing 40 mo% of Bi2O3 where the mu varied between 2.700 and 0.216 cm(-1) when the applied gamma photon energy increased from 0.244 to 2.506 MeV.

查看更多>>摘要:This paper demonstrates ultrashort pulse generation using molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) satu-rable absorber (SA) integrated into a thulium-doped fiber laser. The average particle size of the MoO3 material was 9.54 mu m. The MoO3/polydimethylsiloxane composite was prepared and spin-coated on a tapered fiber to fabricate the SA device. It had a modulation depth of 2.89% and demonstrated a high damage threshold, extending beyond 19.34 GW/cm(2). From the evanescent light-matter interaction, stable self-starting mode-locked soliton pulses of 1.22 ps duration at 1941.4 nm central wavelength were obtained. The pulse repetition rate was 10.84 MHz with 3.3 nm spectral bandwidth. At 1.15 W pump power, the soliton pulse energy was 0.68 nJ corre-sponding to a peak power of 492 W. The work exhibited comparable pulse performances in the 2 mu m wavelength range while utilizing simple SA fabrication procedures of micro-sized MoO3 materials.

The rapid oxidation of the film was performed using a halogen lamp. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies reveal that the Ag2O films are crystalline in nature and highly oriented along the (111) plane. Atomic force microscope (AFM) results show that the surface roughness of the film decreased with increasing the oxidation time. The optical energy gap of Ag2O film increases from 2.3 to 2.7 eV as time increases from 1 to 2 min. Scanning electron microscope results confirm that the film morphology consists of nanograins and microrods depending on the oxidation time. Raman studies show the presence of vibration modes that belong to the stretching (Ag-O) mode. The current-voltage characteristics demonstrate that the p-Ag2O/n-Si heterojunction fabricated at 2 min has the best properties. For the photodetector oxidized at t(ox) = 2 min, the highest responsivity and quantum efficiency are 0.43 AW(-1) and 1.18 x 102% at 450 nm, respectively.

The Laplace-Adomian decomposition scheme reveals the spectral display of bright and dark optical solitons that are with differential group delay. The error measure is also displayed that is stunningly low.

查看更多>>摘要:Dispersion is an inherent property of optical elements, and can be controlled via different kinds of optical glasses or binary optics conventionally. In this paper, we show that this property can be manipulated by the dielectric metasurfaces. In addition, we design the metalenses and beam deflectors with positive, zero, and negative dispersion in the mid-infrared. Unit cells of different sizes and different rotation angles have been introduced to facilitate simultaneous manipulation of phase and its dispersion characteristics. Simulation results show that, the designed metasurfaces demonstrate desired chromatic dispersion. This work paves the way to the practical application of metasurfaces.

The optical links incorporate Single Mode Fiber (SMF) upto a distance of 20 km and Free Space Optics (FSO) channels beyond that. The RF signal employed in this Radio over Fiber (RoF) system follows Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). It is based on 5 G New Radio standard, which is a 3.5 GHz RF signal modulated by data at the rate of 2.5 Gbps. The proposed system is numerically examined over a turbulence channel apart from different weather conditions namely rain (17 dB/km), snow (30 dB/km) and light fog (70 dB/ km). The analysis is carried out for three iterations with the aid of linear equalizers namely Recursive Least Square (RLS) and Least Mean Square (LMS). For a Root Mean Square (RMS) Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) requirement of 12.5%, the maximum FSO link length is found to be 243 m, under the circumstance of rain while FSO link length is reduced to 198 m and 133 m under snow (30 dB/km) and light fog (70 dB/km). The atmospheric turbulence is modeled using Gamma-Gamma distribution for strong refractive index structure (C-n(2) =10(-14) m(-2/3)).

The role of modifier oxides on the photon attenuation characteristics of Nd2O3 doped B2O3-WO3-PbO-Ro(2)O(3) glass systems (with Ro(2)O(3) = Sb2O3, Bi2O3 and Al2O3)

The Phy-X/PSD software was applied to determine the mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) of the glasses. Among the selected glasses, 60B(2)O(3)-2WO(3)-35PbO-3Bi(2)O(3) sample has the greatest MAC. At 0.284 MeV, the MAC values are 0.307, 0.312, 0.328, 0.308, 0.311 and 0.322 cm(2)/g for Sb3, Al3, Bi3, SbNd, AlNd and BiNd respectively. The MAC results demonstrated that there is a clearer advantage to using the present glasses at low energies, while at high energies the advantage is less noticeable. We also investigated the effective atomic number (Z(eff)) for the present glasses. The Z(eff) values are at their greatest at 0.284 MeV, and are equal to 33.83, 33.22, 36.25, 33.95, 33.55 and 35.58 for Sb3, Al3, Bi3, SbNd, AlNd and BiNd respectively. The values slow down and attain the minimum value at 1.333 MeV. We compared the MAC for the selected Nd2O3 doped B2O3-WO3-PbO-Ro(2)O(3) glasses with B2O3-Bi2O3-Na2O2-Sb2O3 glasses, SrO-PbO-B2O3 glasses and WO3 doped borate glasses at 0.662 MeV. We found that all of our glasses in this work have higher MAC than 60B(2)O(3)-20Bi(2)O(3)-20Na(2)O(2), 55B(2)O(3)-20Bi(2)O(3)-20Na(2)O(2)-5Sb2O3 and 50B(2)O(3)-20Bi(2)O(3)-20Na(2)O(2)-10Sb(2)O(3). Also, all of our selected glasses possess higher MAC and thus have better shielding competence than 20SrO-10PbO-70 B(2)O(3)3 sample.

查看更多>>摘要:Usually, Single-Pixel Imaging (SPI) achieves high spatial resolution by degrading time precision, and improving the spatial and temporal resolutions concurrently is very challenging. To tackle this problem, we introduce Stockwell transform as well as its basis into SPI area. Compared with other ones resulted from Fourier or Hadamard, etc, they can represent scenes with fewer bases, making the number of imaging reduced for getting the same quality image. Based on the Stockwell bases, an adaptive differential modulation technique is designed, which uses the inverse Stockwell transform of low-resolution images to guide the selection of Stockwell basis in the next time. Compared with the state-of-the-art methods, Stockwell bases and the guidance of basis selection make the imaging efficiency and resolution improved. Especially, the guidance trick possibly benefits a large number of SPI methods, making the basis in each imaging optimized. Finally, a great number of experimental results have shown that the proposed method achieves the utmost performance among the compared techniques.

查看更多>>摘要:In this study, photo/oxidation/reduction degradability of Ocuflox (OFX) antibiotic by UV/ZnO/ sulfite (UZS) and UV-C/ZnO/KI (UZI) processes was evaluated. The slight amount of OFX degradation by UV/ZnO (UZ) and UV alone was observed after 5 min. The best performance for UZS and UZI processes was observed in the alkaline pH; although, the complete OFX degradation by UZS and UZI was achieved after 5 and 30 min of reaction (81.4% of OFX degradation by UZI was achieved after 5 min). The obtained results from kinetic studies proved this phenomenon, as the robs (mg L-1 min) values for UV alone, UZ, UZI and UZS, were calculated 0.028 mg L-1 min, 0.07 mg L-1 min, 0.56 mg L-1 min and 0.7 mg L-1 min, respectively. In addition the energy consumption and total cost values for system was significantly decreased when sulfite and iodide and sulfite were entered in the photo-catalyst system environment. The scavenging studies indicated both e(aq)-(generated by reductant agent) and( ')OH radicals (generated by oxidant agent) have a great importance in the degradation of OFX. In addition, in the final product produced by these processes (UZI and UZS), the degradation of the OFX aromatic compound into linear compounds with high ability in mineralization was demonstrated. Therefore, photo -oxidationreduction processes due to low time and cost required for degradation of OFX and also high degradation ability of OFX can were applied to degrade the similar pollutants.
