The year was also a historic one in the annals of Japanese industry, as Japan embarked on its way to becoming a world force in iron and steel production.What can we expect in the next hundred years of the new century? Top leaders from three leading Japanese companies discussed how to draw up a grand design for the twenty-first century. They are Shinjiro Shimizu, President of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Mikio Sasaki, President of Mitsubishi Corporation, and Akira Chihaya, President of Nippon Steel Corporation, with Makoto Kihara, Executive Vice President of Nippon Steel Corporation, serving as the moderator.
