All five species phenotypically resemble Metriaclima aurora based on the absence of a black band in the dorsal fm and occupying the rock-sand interface of the lake. Differencesin overall shape, meristics, and coloration distinguish these new species from each other and from previously described species within this group. The new species Metriaclima glaucos, M. mossambicus, M. nkhunguensis, and M xanthos originate from the Mozambique coast of the lake, while M. sciasma is restricted to Tanzanian waters.

The oligochaetes from rivers, lakes, reservoirs, creeks, and springs, belonging to the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea drainage basins, were investigated. Samples of sediments were taken from 54 sampling sites during three years of research (2005-2008). We confirmed the presence of formerly reported species and found 20 species new for the Montenegrin oligochaete fauna: Chaetogaster cristallinus, C. diaphanus, C. langi, C. setosus, Nais behningi, N. bretscheri, N. elinguis, N. simplex, N. stolci, Ophidonais serpentina, Paranais frici, P. litoralis, Piguetiella blanci, Pristina bilobata, P. jenkinae, P. longiseta, P. osborni, P. proboscidea, Slavina appendiculata, and Uncinais uncinata. Accordingly, the fauna of Naidinae and Pristininae in Montenegro now consists of 36 species.

Platyrhina limboonkengi Tang 1933 is relegatedto the synonymy of P. sinensis, both species having two rows of hooked thorns on the mid-dorsum of the tail. Specimens previously widely identified as P. sinensis, but characterized by one row of such hooked thorns, represented an undescribed species, herein named Platyrhina tangi Iwatsuki, Zhang and Nakaya sp. nov. Platyrhina hyugaensis Iwatsuki, Miyamoto and Nakaya sp. nov., known from specimens limited primarily to the Hyuga Nada Sea, off Miyazaki, the Pacific coast of southern Japan, is similar to P. tangi in having one row of hooked thoms on the mid-dorsum of the trunk and tail, but differs in having larger hooked thoms, not encircled by light yellow or white pigment on the orbital, nape and scapular regions, and a pair of hooked thoms (absent inP. tangi) anteriorly on the scapular region. Nominal species are discussed and key to northwestem Pacific species of Platyrhina is provided.

(female) from streams in the Yaroslavl Province, and^. komarovkaensis (female) and A. primory ens is (female) from the Primory Territory of Russia are presented. The fauna of water mites of RussiaHncludes about 30 species of the genus Atractides Koch, 1837 (Sokolow 1940; Tuzovskij 1977, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010a, 2010b). The majority of species of this genus is known from the European part of Russia and only several species are recorded from the Asian part of the country. The fauna of water mites of Russia still remains insufficiently investigated. Investigations of the water mite fauna in different regions of Russia have yielded four new species of this genus, described below.

(Acari: Neothrombiidae) is described and illustrated from larvae ectoparasitic on Opatroides punctatus BruUe, 1832 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) from Mashhad and Gonabad, Razavi JGiorasan Province, Iran. It is the first report of the representatives of the genus Neosilphitrombium from Iran and the first record of the family Tenebrionidae as a host for the genus Neosilphitrombium. A key to world larval species of Neosilphitrombium is presented.
