Review of Plonaphaearus (Acari: Oribatida: Steganacaridae), with descriptions of eight new species from China

    26页
查看更多>>摘要:The oribatid mite genus Plonaphacarus Niedbala, 1986 (Steganacaridae) is reviewed. Ten species of Plonaphacarus including eight new species, P. bicarinatus sp. nov., P concavus sp. nov., P. cristatus sp. nov., P. foveolatus sp. nov., P. hainanensis sp. nov., P. lanceolatus sp. nov., P. protrusus sp. nov. and P. rotundus sp. nov., and one newly recorded species from China are identified. A checklist of all known species and a key to Chinese known species of this genus are provided.

It belongs to D. venustus species group and most similar to the generotype D. venustus Ovtchinnikov, 1999. The new species is compared with threeother species occuring in Central Asia: D. venustus (Tajikistan), D. naranensis Ovtchinnikov, 2005 mdD. pak-istanicus Ovtchinnikov, 2005 (both from Northern Pakistan). Key to the four Central Asian species is provided and illustrations of all species aregiven.

A new species of flea-toad, genus Brachycephalus Fitzinger (Amphibia: Anura: Brachycephalidae), from the Atlantic rainforest of southern Bahia, Brazil

Brachycephalus pulexsp. nov. is mainly diagnosed by the toe II externally absent, the toe V vestigial, fingers I and IV externally absent, and an inverted depigmented v-shaped mark on chest bordered above by a dark brown stripeon each side.

Based on morphological evidence and mitochondrial DNA sequences, Mata-chia magna Forster 1970 is a junior synonym of Nuisiana arboris, and Nanocambridgea grandis Blest & Vink 2000 is a junior synonym of Cambridgea reinga. Two forms of male morph in C. reinga are recorded.

Morphology and SSU rRNA gene sequence of the new brackish water ciliate, Anteholosticha pseudomonilata n. sp. (Ciliophora, Hypotrichida, Holostichidae) from Korea

Carefulmorphological comparison and SSU rRNA gene sequence alignment with similar species are performed to support the validity of Anteholosticha pseudomonilata n. sp. The main diagnostic and distinguishing characteristics of the new species include: 1) 8-11 transverse cirri; 2) midventral complex composed of 10-16 pairs of zigzagging midventral cirri, extending posteriorly to slightly a^iead of pretransverse cirri; 3) cortical granules colourless and pigment-like, 0.5 |im across, longitudinally arranged in more or less short rows on whole cortex except along dorsal kinetics and cirral rows; and 4) 8-12 macronuclear nodules located left of midline.

New and little known species of ptyctimous mites (Acari, Oribatida) from Ethiopia

查看更多>>摘要:Three new species of oribatid mites of the genus Plonaphacarus, Plonaphacarus sidorchukae sp. nov., Plonaphacams ry-balovi sp. nov. and Plonaphacarus hamulus sp. nov., are described from Bale Mountains National Park (Afrotropical region, Ethiopia). Morphological and taxonomical remarks about Steganacarus (Steganacams) sol and Steganacarus (Steganacarus) vestitus are presented. Ethiopia is the African country yet little explored as regards ptyctimous mites. Only three species are described to date (Niedbala 2001, 2008). In the course of faunistic studies of oribatid mites of Bale Mountains National Park (located in Ethiopia) we have found new species in the geneus Plonaphacarus Niedbala, 1986.
