Hlavaciellus Jaloszynski, 2006: eleven new species, detailed morphology and systematic position within Cephenniini (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scydmaeninae)

    PAWEL JALOSZYNSKI
    33页
查看更多>>摘要:Eleven new species of Hlavaciellus Jaloszynski, 2006 are described from Malaysia: H. adelphos, H. angustifrons, H. bi-foveatus, H. cirrus, H. clandestinus, H. decoratus, H. extremalis, H. metrios, H. miser, H. peninsularis, and H. smetanai. Diagnosticcharacters, including head modifications of males and aedeagi are illustrated, and detailed morphology of Hlavaciellus is described for the first time on the basis of disarticulated specimens. A preliminary parsimony-based phylogenetic analysis of mostcurrently known genera of the Cephenniini (with two genera of the Eutheiini as an outgroup) provided a robust support for the previously suggested placement of Hlavaciellus as a sister group taxon to Cephennodes Reitter, 1884. The Cephennomicrus group ofgenera was placed as a sister group to Cephennodes + Hlavaciellus.

A new brachypterous genus of Platyphyllini (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae, Pseudophyllinae) from Colombia

As in several other members of the tribe, only the male sports a conspicuous coloration, which is briefly discussed. A new species of Pseudophyllinae from the eastern Andean foothills of Colombia has been discovered. The brachypterous katydid with sexually-dimorphic coloration apparently belongs to the neotropical tribe Platyphyllini. This is one of the larger tribes of the mostly tropical and very diverse subfamily Pseudophyllinae. It so far comprises 16 genera and 65 valid species (Eades et al), which usually can be fairly easily recognized by the typical shape of the tegmina: in lateral view of the insect the dorsal or anal margin of the tegmen is curved, especially its rear end, while the ventral or costal margin is almost straight. Only some of the conspicuously spiny and robust species of the genus Choeroparnops have reduced tegmina. To accommodate the delicate new species with strongly reduced tegmina it is necessary to create an additional genus. With the discovery of this katydid the number of genera and species of Platyphyllini known from Colombia rises to 8 and 14 respectively (corresponding to an updated checklist, Chamorro et al. in prep.). And there are species waiting to be described.

The following are reported as new species for the Thailand fauna: M. calcarata Hippa, M. clausa Hippa, M. curvata Hippa, M. duplex Hippa, M.fera Hippa,M. ferrata Hippa, M. horrida Hippa, M. perangulata Hippa & Sevcik, M. pollex Hippa, and M. transversa Hippa. New records within Thailand are given of the following species: M. aconcinna Hippa, M. acutangula Hippa, M. ancylochaeta Hippa, M. biunculata Hippa, M. dentata Hippa & Papp, M. epigrata Hippa, M. globigera Hippa, M. hepta-cantha Hippa, M. inflata Hippa, M. mirifica Hippa & Papp, M. oligochaeta Hippa, M. ovata Hippa, M. pectinata Hippa, M. pellii Hippa, M. perlobata Hippa, M. perpusilla Hippa, M.planilobata Hippa, M. plusiochaeta Hippa, M. roslii Hippa, M. simplex Hippa, M. sub/errata Hippa, M. submirifica Hippa, M. tetrachaeta Hippa, M. ulu Hippa, and M. vesicaria Hippa. Male genitalia of M. aconcinna Hippa are redescribed. The number of the known Oriental species of Manota is now 84, of which 56 are recorded from Thailand. A key to the Oriental and Palaearctic species is given.

Taxonomy of the vector leafhopper genus Nesoclutha Evans (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae) in China, with description of a new species

查看更多>>摘要:The leafhopper genus Nesoclutha, a known vector of plant pathogens, currently comprises four species worldwide. In this paper, one new species added from China, N. concavipenis sp. nov., is described and one new record, N.phryne (Kirkaldy) (= N. pallida Evans) from China is given. A checklist and a key to all known species in the genus are provided. Vector leafhoppers have the potential to reduce production of economic plants through their natural spread of pathogens (Nielson, 1968). Nesoclutha ohscura Evans (Deltocephalinae: Macrostelini), was first reported as a vector of a plant virus related to grasses and cereals by Grylls (1963). It is a vector of cereal chlorotic mottling rhab-dovirus, chloris striate mosaic geminivirus, paspalum striate mosaic geminivirus and the causative agent of maize wallaby ear (Grylls, 1963). It transmits viruses to wheat, oat, barley, corn and other grasses (Nielson, 1968).
