Based on combined analyses of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA sequences (ND1 and RAG2 genes, respectively), and morphological examination, we provide evidence for the existence of at least four distinct evolutionary lineages within this complex: Madascincus stumpffi;Madascincus arenicola sp. nov. from northern Madagascar; and two cryptic species morphologically similar to the name-bearing types of M. polleni and M. intermedius. The two latter species, although genetically distinct, appear to be morphologically indistinguishable and their taxonomic status cannot be resolved until a better sampling will be available.

This species is assigned to the P. orestes group, from whose members it differs by the absence of tubercles on heel and outer edge of tarsus, lacking a discoidal fold, presence of slightly expanded finger and toe pads, and bright yellow blotches on groin, axilla and anterior surfacesof thigh. The advertisement call of the new species consists of a series of short, indistinctly pulsed notes, and has a dominant frequency of 2.50-2.56 kHz. A molecular phylogeny based on a fragment of the mitochondrial gene 12S shows that the new species is sister to a clade formed by Pristimantis simonbolivari and an unde-scribed Pristimantis.

In this paper, a new species of this genus is described from southeastern Brazil and a complementary description is provided for Iphiseiodessaopaulus (Denmark & Muma). A revision of Iphiseiodes De Leon was published by Aponte & McMurtry (1995). At that time, it included five species: Iphiseiodes kamahorae De Leon, 1966, Iphiseiodes neonobilis Denmark & Muma, 1978, Iphiseiodes nobilis (Chant& Baker, 1965), Iphiseiodes quadripilis (Banks, 1904) and Iphiseiodes zuluagai Denmark & Muma, 1972. Since then, two new species were described in this genus (Iphiseiodes setillus Gondim Jr. & Moraes, 2001 and Iphiseiodes moraesi Ferla & Silva, 2011) andtwo species originally described as Amblyseius Berlese (A. saopaulus Denmark & Muma, 1973 and A. metapodalis El-Banhawy, 1984) were transferred into it (Chant & McMurtry, 2004). A redescription of this genus was presented by Chant & McMurtry (2004).

The pseudoscorpion fauna of Slovakia includes 51 species in 7 families, and that of the Czech Republic includes 38 species in 7 families. New country records are provided: Mundochthonius carpaticus Rafalski and Microbisium brevifemoratum (Ellingsen) in the Czech Republic and Microbisium suecicum Lohmander in Slovakia.

Leptoderma macrophthalmum n.sp., a new species of smooth-head (Otocephala: Alepocephalidae) from the Mid Atlantic Ridge

查看更多>>摘要:A new species of Alepocephalidae, Leptoderma macrophthalmum n.sp., is described from one specimen caught in 2004 at about 2100 m depth at the Mid Atlantic Ridge, north of the Azores. Morphological and molecular evidence indicate a relationship closestto the Pacific species Leptoderma lubricum. The smooth-heads, family Alepocephalidae, comprise 96 valid species of epibenthic deep-sea fishes, distributed among 22 genera (Eschmeyer & Fricke 2011). The genus Leptoderma is currently considered to containfour valid species, all of which lack scales and typically have a tapering, eel-like body. While three of the species, Leptoderma retropinna Fowler, 1943, L. affinis Alcock, 1899, and L. lubricum Abe, Marumo & Kawaguchi, 1965 are known from the Indian and Pacific oceans, L. macrops Vaillant, 1886 is an Atlantic species. A fifth nominal species, L. springeri Mead & Bohlke, 1953 has been synonymised with L. macrops (Krefft 1973, Markle & Quero 1984, Markle & Sazonov 1990).

Cymothoa hermani sp. nov. is characterised by the unique bulbous ornamentation on pereonite 1, anterolateral angles on pereonite 1 rounded and produced past frontal margin of ce-phalon, and pereopods with long and slender dactyli. There are no other species of Cymothoa known from parrotfishes. This description increases thenumber of known Cymothoa from the southwestern Indian Ocean to four.
