查看更多>>摘要:A total of 16 species of the family Leiognathidae have been collected from the commercial landings from Cochin and Neendakara on the western coast of India from 1998-2000. Detailed morphometric data have been collected and all 16 species are redescribed with live color photographs here. Various relationships in the morphometric characteristics have been studied and regression equations fitted to enable comparison of the populations of these species from Kerala with those from other regions. Of the 16species collected and described in the present work, five species, Nuchequula nuchalis, Equulite absconditus, Equulites leuciscus, Aurigequula longispina, and Gazza achlamys, are reported for the first time from the entire western coast of India.

Apseudes talpa revisited (Crustacea; Tanaidacea). The impact on apseudidaen systematics

查看更多>>摘要:The species Apseudes talpa is redescribed and its impact on the systematics of Apseudidae is discussed. The finding of multiple conflicting characters with the generic diagnosis, as well as the novel character of a denticulate ridge on the mandibularbody, suggest that a redefinition of the genus Apseudes is necessary. The genus Androgynella is here demoted to a junior synonym of Apseudes.

A new species of Eukoenenia (Palpigradi: Eukoeneniidae) from Brazilian iron caves

查看更多>>摘要:Eukoenenia ferratilis sp. n. is described from 7 adults (6 females and 1 male) and 1 immature (stage A) collected in iron caves in the municipalities of Moeda and Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The new species shares characteristics with several species of the genus Eukoenenia Borner, 1901 being related to the species Eukoenenia mirabilis (Grassi & Calan-druccio, 1885) and Eukoenenia berlesei (Silvestri, 1903), but the shape and chaetotaxy of the male and female genitalia are distinctive

The first record of Bertolanius weglarskae (Dastych, 1972) and new records of Eohypsibius nadjae Kristensen, 1982 are documented. The new genus Austeruseus is established and three new species, Austeruseus faeroensis, nov. sp., A. balduri nov. sp. and A rokuri nov. sp. are described. The genus differentiates from the genera Bertolanius and Eohypsibius in the buccal tube. The apophyses for the insertion of stylet muscles are (two or six) lateral hooks and the entire length of the mouth and buccal tube are straight in Austeruseus, while Bertolanius and Eohypsibius have the apophyses for the insertion of stylet muscles as crests with ventral and dorsal hooks, and the mouth and buccal tube are flared or trumpet shaped. With five species the Faroese tardigrade fauna is the richest in the world with regard to the family Eohypsibiidae. The genus Austeruseus is primarily found in mossesat high mountain biotopes, and the new genus may be a glacial relic.

A mitochondrial COI barcode also was generated for the specimen. The genus Perulibatrachus is representedby four species (Greenfield et al, 2008). One of these, P. aquilonarius Greenfield, was described from a single specimen collected by A.W.C.T. Herre in 1941 in India (Greenfield, 2005). The specimen had been misidentified as Chatrabus damaranus and deposited in the ichthyological collections of Stanford University, and later was transferred to the California Academy pf Sciences. Because of the age of the specimen, its color pattern was badly faded. In February 2010 the first author collected the secondknown specimen of P. aquilonarius from off Tuticorin, India and was able to photograph its fresh coloration. The species is rede-scribed here.
