A diagnosis and illustrations of habitus and genitalia are given for each species. We compare variation in wing color pattern among the genera Blepolenis, Opsiphanes, Orobrassolis and Mielkella, and discuss the repeated loss of male wing androconial organs within Blepolenis. DNA sequence (nuclear and mitochondrial genes) provided the strongest signal for phylogeny reconstruction, given that Blepolenis species are morphologically homogeneous. Estimated time of divergence between Blepolenis and Opsiphanes dates from the Mid Miocene (ca. 15 million years ago), and was followed by an apparent period of stasis. Extant Blepolenis species seem to have diverged in the Pleistocene (ca. 2.5 mya).

A comparison is made with the larvae of other known Mecoptera, especially Panorpa and Neopanorpa in Panorpidae.

New synonymy is proposed: Haplotropis Saussure, 1888 = Sinohaplotropis Cao et Yin, 2008, syn. nov.; Haplotropis brunneriana Saussure, 1888 = Sinohaplotropis elunchuna Cao et Yin, 2008, syn. nov., = Haplotropis neimongolensis Jin, 1994, syn. nov.; Nocarodeini Bolivar, 1916 = Sulcatini Harz, 1975, syn. nov., = Nocarodesinae Zhang, Yin et Yin, 2003, syn. nov., = Tropidaucheninae Zhang, Yin et Yin, 2003, syn. nov.; Pamphagini Burmeister, 1840 = Orchaminae Zhang, Yin et Yin, 2003, syn. nov.; Trinchinae Stal, 1876 = Prionopropsinae Zhang, Yin et Yin, 2003, syn. nov.

Heath sp. n., and C. pygmaea Sanborn sp. n. are described as new. A key to the 12 known species of Cacama is provided. The distributions of the new Cacama species are also illustrated.

In this new species, MA forks at the same level as the separation of Rs2 from Rs, close to the middle of forewing, this structure of MA is peculiar in Grammolingiidae and is different from that of all other known species. Moreover, this new species is the smallest species known in the family Grammolingiidae (30 mm wing span).

A key to distinguish all species of the genus (except Midoria capitata Kato) is given. The type specimens of new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University (GUGC).
