A new genus Microphylacinus and revision of the closely related Phylacinus Fairmaire, 1896 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Pedinini) from Madagascar

查看更多>>摘要:Two new species from the genus Phylacinus Fairmaire, 1896 (Phylacinus fisheri sp. nov., P. kavanaughi sp. nov.) and a new genus Microphylacinus gen. nov. with a single species Microphylacinus verendus sp. nov. are described. These genera are distributed mainly along the coast of Madagascar. The material studied was acquired from California Academy of Sciences expeditions conducted between 2000 and 2002. Examined specimens allowed us to revise the genus Phylacinus and confirm previously described species. New localities were recorded for Phylacinus peyrierasi Ardoin, 1967 and Phylacinus ferreri Iwan, 2004. A key is proposed to the species of Phylacinus. Microphylacinus differs from Phylacinus by its small size, sulcate fronto-clypeal suture and fully divided aedeagal tegmen.

First female and new species of Phaenicocleus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Enicocephalidae) from Sabah and a key to genera of Enicocephalidae without forewing basal cell

(based on a female), is described from Sabah and compared with the other three species of the genus (based on males). Autapomorphies of the genus (particularly reduced armature of fore tibia and tarsus, interrupted posterior claval vein AA3+4, striking occurrence of large setigerous tubercles - the latter shared with Australian Usingeriella) are stressed and partly discussed. A new key to genera of Enicocephalidae with forewing basal cell absent and closed discal cell present is provided.

A cladistic analysis based on morphological characters indicates that the genus Zoniopoda constitutes a monophyletic group and that Zoniopoda serrana n. sp. must be assigned to Iheringi species group based on synapomorphies of the pronotum and body color. The new species is similar to Z. similis Bruner from Paraguay, Bolivia and Brazil, from which it can be distinguished by the color pattern of the body, shape of the pronotal dorso-median carina and characters of the male terminalia and epiphallus. This paper has been formatted with embedded links to images of the type specimen, maps based on georeferenced specimen data for the genus and an updated key to the species of Zoniopoda available on the Orthoptera Species File (OSF) online (http://orthoptera.speciesfile.org).

A taxonomic discussion of the genus Phalacrotophora Enderlein, 1912 (Diptera: Phoridae), with the description of two new species from Southeast Asia

查看更多>>摘要:Two new species of Phalacrotophora Enderlein, 1912, P. nitida sp. n. and P. pappi sp. n. are described from Southeast Asia. Their affinities are discussed, the present knowledge on the genus is summarized. Faunistic records of various Phalacrotophora species are presented; P. fasciata (Fallen, 1823), so far only known from Europe, is reported from Asia for the first time.

A new synonym, a new male description and new geographical records for three Ceraeochrysa species (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae)

查看更多>>摘要:Ceraeochrysa Adams is the largest genus in Chrysopini with 62 valid species distributed in the New World. The taxonomy of this group is complex and largely based on male genitalic characters. There are still serious complications, especially with the species that have been described solely from female specimens. The male of C. montoyana (Navas, 1913), unknown previously, is herein described for the first time, and compared with its closest relative, C. claveri (Navas, 1911). Ceraeochrysa acutipuppis Adams & Penny, 1985 is designated as a junior synonym of C. fairchildi (Banks, 1946) based on the evidence that both species share external morphological features uncommon in other species of the genus. The species C. claveri, C. fairchildi and C. montoyana are recorded from Venezuela for the first time. External morphology and genitalia of these insects are described and illustrated.

Ochthebius ustaoglui sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae), a new species of the O. metallescens group from Turkey

查看更多>>摘要:To date, 73 species of Ochthebius Leach, 1815 have been reported from Turkey. Twenty-seven of these species are endemic to Turkey (Ertorun, Jach, Kasapoglu & Darilmaz, in prep.). During faunistic surveys in Erzurum and Denizli, a new species of the Ochthebius metallescens species group was discovered. In the present paper, the new species is described, illustrated, and notes on its habitat and distribution are provided.
