查看更多>>摘要:Several species of the infaunal alpheid genera Leptalpheus Williams, 1965 and Fenneralpheus Felder & Manning, 1986 are described as new or reported from new localities in the tropical western Atlantic and eastern Pacific. In the genus Leptalpheus, five species are described as new: L. marginalis sp. nov. from the Caribbean coast of Colombia; L. penicillatus sp. nov. from the Pacific coast of Panama and Costa Rica; L. azuero sp. nov., L. hendrickxi sp. nov., and L. bicristatus sp. nov., all three from the Pacific coast of Panama. In addition, L. cf. forceps Williams, 1965 and L. felderi Anker, Vera Caripe & Lira, 2006 are reported for the first time from the Caribbean coast of Panama. Several unidentified species of Leptalpheus presently known from incomplete or immature specimens are also reported. In the genus Fenneralpheus, F. orabovis sp. nov. is described as new, whereas F. chacei Felder & Manning, 1986 is reported from the Caribbean coast of Panama, representing the first finding of this species outside its type locality in Florida. The generic diagnoses of both Leptalpheus and Fenneralpheus are emended to accommodate the new species.
查看更多>>摘要:Two closely related species of the alpheid shrimp genus Salmoneus Holthuis, 1955 are described as new, viz. S. excavatus sp. nov. from the tropical eastern Pacific (Panama, Colombia), and S. depressus sp. nov. from the western Atlantic (Panama, Venezuela, Barbados). The two species share the presence of a dent-like, deep, longitudinal depression on the dorsal surface of the carapace, a feature unique within Salmoneus, the Alpheidae, and possibly the infra-order Caridea, as well as several other characters, thus forming a transisthmian sister species pair.

查看更多>>摘要:Based on very small upper and lower molars recovered from the Quaternary limestone caves in the State of Tocantins, northern Brazil, we describe a new genus and species of a didelphimorphian marsupial. A phylogenetic analysis based on morphological +karyotypic data set recovered the new genus and species as the sister taxon to the living didelphid, Hyl-adelphys kalinowskii Voss, Lunde & Simons. The new taxon differs from the latter in having a slightly larger size, more inflated and blunt cusps, greater reduction in number and size of the stylar cusps, in the absence of an anterior cingulum, a deeper ectoflexus in M2, paracone and metacone subequal in M2, and narrower and eccentric protocones. The new marsupial probably weighed no more than 40 g and its molar morphology is suggestive of mixed, insectivorous-frugivorous feeding habits. Although we regard the fauna of Gruta dos Mouras cave as Pleistocene, we do not negate the possibility that a temporal mixing ("time-averaging") of Pleistocene and Holocene specimens existed and that the newly described taxon is a living marsupial in the study area.
查看更多>>摘要:The genus Eilica Keyserling, 1891 is worldwide distributed including 28 species (Platnick, 2011). South American Eilica are represented by 10 species of which seven are known by more meridional distribution: E. amambay Platnick, 1985; E. maculipes (Vellard, 1925); E. modesta Keyserling, 1891 myrmecophila (Simon, 1903); E. pomposa Medan, 2001; E. trilineata (Mello-Leitao, 1941) and E. uniformis (Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1942). Eilica pomposa was described from Argentina based on only two known males collected around 1000 km apart from each other in a considered suspect wide distribution by Medan (2001:404). In this paper we describe and illustrate for the first time the female of E. pomposa and present notes on its natural history and distribution.
查看更多>>摘要:The first species of Symphyla was described in 1763 and many hundreds of papers on the group have since appeared with almost 200 species having been described. However, very few of them deal with material from Asia (Scheller, 1971, 1988, Scheller & Golovatch, 1982, Scheller & Mikhaljova, 2000) and not a single species has been recorded from Iran. Now one of us (M.R. Kavianpour) has collected them for the first time from there. They appeared in a study of soil-living mites in gardens with pomegranatesand grapes in the vicinity of Shahreza in the Esfahan Province, about 500 km south of Teheran, 1800 m asl., and were obtained from Berlese extractions of soil samples down to a depth of 20-30 cm. Both the type specimen of the new species and the other material have been deposited in the collections of the Zoological Museum, University of Lund, Sweden.
