A key to these species is provided. Fivenew species are described: P. curcipunctum Nguyen, Kojima & Saito, sp. nov.; P. reliciniclypeus Nguyen, Kojima & Saito, sp. nov.; P. gilvus Nguyen, Kojima & Saito, sp. nov.; P. paco Nguyen, Kojima & Saito, sp. nov.; and P. clandestinus Nguyen, Kojima & Saito, sp. nov. The male of P. dawnae Dover & Rao is described for the first time. Nests of P. lepcha Cameron, P. dawnae Dover & Rao , P. reliciniclypeus and P. gilvus are also described. All of these 14 Polistella species are characterized by having thesecond metasomal sternum that is basally strongly swollen. Distribution patterns of these 14 Polistella species are discussed. Polistes nipponensis Perez is newly recorded from Vietnam, P. affinis Gusenleitner, P. horrendus Gusenleitner are newly recorded from northern Vietnam, P. santoshae Das & Gupta is newly recorded from central Vietnam, and P. adustus Bingham is newly recorded from Bhutan.

Revision of New Caledonian species of Eumolpinae described by K. M. Heller (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

查看更多>>摘要:The Chrysomelidae of New Caledonia are rich and unique, but insufficiently characterized. New species are being rapidly described, sometimes without careful study of the earlier taxonomic research. Karl M. Heller (Dresden, Germany) described in 1916 seven species of Eumolpinae which are redescribed here to distinguish them from other known species and to provide new information about sexual dimorphism and genitalic structures. New material is used to redefine their distribution. The males of Dematochroma lepros (Heller, 1916) and D. culminicola (Heller, 1916), and the female of D. difficilis (Heller, 1916) are described for the first time. Male and female genitalia are first described for seven and five species, respectively. D. difficilis (Heller,1916) stat. rev., is revalidated from previous synonymy with D. terastiomerus (Heller, 1916). Lectotypes are designated for/), humboldtiana and D. terastiomerus.

The eggs of Trichocorixa have a very short basal stalk; those of T. mendozana are bigger than those of T. kanza and T. sexcincta. The maincharacters separating the instars I, IV, and V of T. mendozana'are: the head width; the number of transverse sul-cations of the rostrum; the number of spines on the anterior surface of the metafemur; and the grade of development of the wing pads. The nymphs of T. mendozana and T. verticalis sellaris can be separated on the basis of the head (instar V) and body (instars I, IV-V) widths. In nymphs V of T. mendozana, T. orinocoensis, T. reticulata reticulata, T. verticalis sellaris, and T. verticalis verticalis, the following measurements and ratios distinguish species or group of species of Trichocorixa: the body length; the ocular index; the ratio between the body length and the head width; the ratio between the distance and the diameter of the apertures of the second and third scent glands; and the number of spines on the anterior surface of metafemur.

Change of authorship of Aphodius and Oryctes to Hellwig, 1798 (Insecta: Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

Both have been attributed to Johann Karl Wilhelm Illiger who had introduced those names in his "Verzeichniss der Kafer Preussens" in 1798. The names are undisputed and stable. The discovery of a preview of Illiger's book, published eight months earlier, prompts a change of authorship to Hellwig (1798) for both of these generic names.
