    Fifteen new species of Chilicola (Oroediscelis) (Hymenoptera: Colletidae: Xeromelissinae) with illustrated keys to the males and females of the subgenus

    查看更多>>摘要:Fifteen new species of Chilicola subgenus Oroediscelis are described and illustrated. The following 11 species are from Argentina recording a remarkable diversity and the first records of the subgenus in the country: Chilicola capillitas Packer and Dumesh, new species, C. abrebotellas, Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. goloboffi Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. fritzi, Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. rozeni Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. roigi Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. carpenteri Packer & Dumesh, new species; C. calchaqui Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. jaguense Packer and Dumesh, new species; C. cuyense Dumesh & Packer, new species; and C. huarpe Packer and Dumesh, new species. Chilicola pustulata Packer and Dumesh, new species, and Chilicola luna Dumesh, and Packer new species, are described from Peru; C. boharti Packer and Dumesh, new species, and C. ashei Dumesh and Packer, new species, are described from Bolivia, where C. carpenteri also occurs. An unusual feature of the male antennae is described: long setae on F2 and F3 (less commonly F4) that are appressed to, and occasionally longer than, the succeeding flagellomere. Additional records for previously described species are listed and a revised key to males is provided as well as a provisional complete key for all females.

    查看更多>>摘要:Seven new species of the cavernicolous and anophthalmous genus Thaumastocephalus Poggi, Nonveiller, Colla, vieevie & T. Rada, 2001 are described: T. bilandzijae sp. n., T. kirini sp. n., T. marsici sp. n., T. rujnicensis sp. n., T. slavkoi sp. n. and T. troglavi sp. n. from Croatia and T. dahnae sp. n. from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aedeagi of all species are illustrated. A key to all species is provided. The records of all specimens of the genus treated here are given, and their distributions are discussed and shown on maps. The distribution of all genera of cavernicolous Pselaphinae in the Dinarides is discussed.

    New South American species of Crossopalpus Bigot (Diptera: Hybotidae: Tachydromiinae), including biogeographical insights and a reinterpretation of female abdominal tergite 10 in Drapetidini

    查看更多>>摘要:Crossopalpus is a rather diverse genus of tachydromiine flies, but regionally the genus is nowhere very speciose. Knowledge on the South American Crossopalpus before this paper included two described species from Andean related habitats, with several biomes from the eastern part of the continent being completely unexplored. Herein, we describe four new species of Crossopalpus from eastern South America, namely: C. albivertex sp. nov., C. aliceae sp. nov., C. goliathus sp. nov., and C. xanthogaster sp. nov. New diagnoses and high quality photographs are made available for C. armipes (Bezzi, 1909) and C. pennescens (Melander, 1918), including some characters used for the first time to distinguish South American species. We provide a key for identification of the six South American species, discussion about the position of Crossopalpus in Drapetidini, and some biogeographical insights including preferred habitats and seasonality of the South American species. We discuss the apparent loss of tergite 10 in females of Drapetidini, introducing a reinterpretation where the sclerite may be present in some genera of the tribe, but fused to the cerci and/or sternite 10.

    查看更多>>摘要:The genus Cancricepon Giard & Bonnier, 1887 is recorded for the first time from Australia, the Maldives, Papua New Guinea and Taiwan. Four species of Cancricepon are reported here, and two are new to science. Cancricepon choprae (Nierstrasz & Brender a Brandis, 1925) is reported from the Gulf of Mexico on the Florida coast, infesting a new host, Micropanope cf. sculptipes Stimpson, 1871. Cancricepon castroi n. sp. is described from Australia, the Maldives, Japan and Papua New Guinea parasitizing coral crabs of the family Trapeziidae. Cancricepon cf multituberosum An, Yu & Williams, 2012 is recorded from a specimen of Leptodius affinis (De Haan, 1835) from Taiwan. Specimens previously misidentified as C. choprae parasitizing Scalopidia spinosipes Stimpson, 1858, from China are described as C. beibusinus n. sp. All known hosts and localities of species of Cancricepon are summarized, and a key to the species in the genus is provided. The similarities between species of Cancricepon and the type species of Trapezicepon Bonnier, 1900, are discussed and Trapezicepon thalamitae Markham, 1985, is transferred to Scyracepon Tattersall, 1905.

    查看更多>>摘要:Gymnothorax mucifer Snyder, 1904 has been synonymized with G. kidako (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846) since 2000. Examination of material from Hawaii (type locality) and Taiwan reveal that G. mucifer is a valid species based on morphological and molecular data. It can be distinguished from G. kidako by a plainly colored lower jaw (vs. mottled), white margin of the anal fin replaced by serial pale blotches posteriorly on the tail (vs. white margin continuous to tip of tail), more dentary teeth (17-27 vs. 16-20), and fewer total vertebrae (130-141 vs. 140-143). In the present study, a redescription of G. mucifer is provided, and the distribution of G. mucifer and G. kidako is reevaluated.

    查看更多>>摘要:Amphisbaena talisiae and A. mensae, two worm lizard species endemic to the Cerrado ecoregion, in central Brazil, are considered synonyms based on morphological characters. With the proposed synonymy, the name A. talisiae has priority of use over A. mensae. Amphisbaena talisiae can be distinguished from its congeners by a series of morphological characters, including a round head, three supralabial and three infralabial scales, postmalar row absent, four precloacal pores without a median hiatus, 205-234 body annuli, 17-29 caudal annuli, 10-14 dorsal and 14-18 ventral segments in a midbody annulus. The species is recorded from southeastern Mato Grosso, eastern Minas Gerais and central Tocantins states in central Brazil, and its conservation status should be changed from Data Deficient to Least Concern.

This study designates a neotype of Macrostemum hyalinum, the type species of the genus, establishes the Atlantic Forest of Espirito Santo, Brazil, as the species type locality, and proposes a key to males of Neotropical species in this genus.
