Taxonomically, it shows close relationships with Ephedra nebrodensis mainly for the small size with internodes scabrous-wrinkled not fragile at the nodes, but relevant differences regarding the size and shape of twigs, leaves, male and female cones, ovules, seeds, fruiting strobili and pollen grains allow to distinguish very well the two species. Its ecology, conservation status and relationships with other allied Mediterranean species are discussed.

Among of them, Parahelicomyces yunnanensis sp. nov and Tubeufia nigroseptum sp. nov. are introduced as new species based on morphology and molecular phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, SSU, TEF1-alpha and RPB2 sequence data. The detailed descriptions and illustrations of the new species are provided, as well as the morphological comparison with similar taxa are discussed. Two strains of Neohelicomyces aquaticus and Tubeufia cylindrothecia are provided.

A total of 62 specimens belonging to 56 gatherings concerning 37 valid published names in 23 families of Chinese seed plants are documented as original materials. They include seven isotypes, 21 syntypes, of which 16 of them are isolectotypes and 34 paratypes. A checklist of the 37 names is presented with annotations on the typification, authorship citation, type localities and other taxonomic issues. Eight names were lectotypified, and one name's second-step lectotype is proposed. Additionally, Distylium lanceolatum Chun, which is invalid pending for further study, and which has long been treated as a synonym of D. dunnianum H.Lev., is listed after the 37 names.

It is morphologically allied with Phyllanthus avicularis, P. heliotropus, and P. hyssopifolioides, but differs from all of them by a set of characters related to cymules sex, presence and types of trichomes on leaves and stems, leaf consistency, numbers of sepals in flower of both sexes, integrity of stamens, capsules and seeds. Additionally, we provide images of the new species in the field, conservation status, mapped distribution, the anatomical description of its stem and leaves, and a key to differentiate it from the other similar species belonging to Phyllanthus sect. Loxopodium occurring in Brazil. The new species is one of the few in the genus that occurs in shaded environments in seasonal dry forests within the Cerrado biome.

Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analyses of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, tef-alpha and rpb2 genes showed the isolated taxon belongs to Wiesneriomycetaceae and was well separated from closely related genera with high statistical support. It can be differentiated from other genera in Wiesneriomycetaceae by synnemata with catenate conidia that are cylindrical, 0-4 to multi-septate, often with a dark brown band at the septa. Morphology, phylogenetic analyses and pairwise homoplasy index (PHI) tests provide evidence that the new isolate is a distinct genus. The genus Heveicola is introduced, with H. xishuangbannaensis as the type species. A key to the genera in Wiesneriomycetaceae is also provided.

The distinctive characters of the species are its chamaephytic nature, capillary roots, formation of large colonies, tetramerous flowers with white petals, dormant terminal and lateral buds in the mother plant and connate fruits of 1/2-3/4 its length. The habitat and morphology of the species is illustrated and its relationships with close species presented. Its conservation status was categorized as Endangered (EN).

Multigene analyses based on LSU, SSU and ITS rDNA placed the new fungus as a distinct branch within the family. The new genus is characterized by its yellow to orange-brown ascomata, thin-walled, semipersistent asci, hyaline to yellow-orange, thick-walled, distoseptate ascospores with one polar appendage that is amorphous in structure, large in size and irregular in shape.

Epidendrum dayseae can be recognized by the pendent stem, the long, narrow leaves, a relatively long floral pedicel, and the lateral lobes of the lip smaller than the mid-lobe and deeply separated. The new species resembles E. longicolle , but is distinguished by the union between of the lateral and mid-lobes of the lip being under half the mid-lobe length. The new species is also compared with E. plurifolionocturnum. Its chromosome number is 2n = 4x = 80, with a band pattern similar to other species of the Nocturnum group.
