The pertinent work of Boiteau published in 1947, as subsequently elaborated on by Boitcau & Mannoni in the late-1940s, is assessed to clarify the use of infragencrie ranks by these authors. From this analysis it is evident that, with the exception of two new combinations published by Boiteau in 1947 at the rank of section and two at the rank of subsection, and one unranked infrageneric name published by Boiteau & Mannoni in 1949, none of the other infrageneric designations that they proposed was validly published.

A circumscription of D. arboreus based on the West Indies populations is proposed. This is the first step in order to delucidate how many taxa have been lumped into the synonymy of that species in the Neotropic. Lectotypes are designated for the names Gilibertia brachypoda and Sciodaphyllum samydifolium.

Morphological features and DNA sequence analyses of combined ITS and LSU regions support their placements in Fusicolla and recognition of new species. Fusicolla gigas sp. nov. is characterized by C-shaped, 0-4(-5)-septate microconidia, falcate, (1-)4-9-septate macroconidia up to 80 mu m long, and pinkish orange colonies on PDA. Fusicolla guangxiensis sp. nov. is distinguished by long-fusiform, falcate, (0-)1(-3)-septate macroconidia with acute ends, and orange colonies on PDA. Their macroconidia produced on OA are obvious larger than those on PDA. Distinctions between the new species and their close relatives are compared in detail.

The species, known only from the original illustration by Barbosa Rodrigues, was originally described from the region known as Zona da Mata Mineira, and its rediscovery is reported from over 400 km to the northwest of that region. The new record allowed a more detailed study of its morphology, the first photographs of the species, as well as the preliminary assessment of its conservation status as Critically Endangered. Such unexpected rediscovery highlights the importance of conservation actions in the Brazilian campos rupestres given its high diversity and endemism, the deficient knowledge on the taxonomy and distribution of its species, and the increasing pressure of human activities.

This novel palm belongs to the Urosperma group but is unique in having the combination of the following characters: clustered stems with stoloniferous off-shoots, few rachillae (2-3), spirally arranged fruits throughout the rachillae, and fruiting perianth with imbricate calyx lobes. Relevant morphological and ecological notes, and an updated key for the Urosperma group are also included. P. leonardcoi is a narrow-endemic species and is hereby assessed as Critically Endangered.

It is illustrated, described and compared with related taxa. This fungus is characterized by unevenly pigmented conidia having pale brown ends, and produced in chains of up to four. The isolate was identified on the basis of its asexual morph. A key to 20 valid species of Heteroconium is presented.

Eugenia canumana is morphologically related to E. laevis, but differs by its twigs with cataphylls and glabrous flowers; E. humaitana is close to E. cribrata, but has glabrous flowers with sepals in two unequal pairs; E. jutai is close to E. campina, but has dull-colored blades with midvein adaxially impressed and longer pedicels and bracteoles; E. multilocellata is related to E. agathopoda, but has pilose flowers and multilocellate anthers; E. seislagoana is related to E. illepida, but has blades with midvein adaxially raised and smaller flowers with sepals fused at its basal portion, and E. xinguana is related to E. stictopetala, but has blades with midvein adaxially raised and larger flowers. All six species are assigned to section Umbellatae.

We report additional records of P. wightiana, which appears to inhabit the provinces Ha Giang and Yen Bai. We provide detailed morphological description of the Vietnamese populations of this species, and discuss their deviation from the known variation range of P. wightiana. We report for the first time the second species of Parnassia from Vietnam, and provisionally identify it as P. procul. Our discovery of this species in Lam Dong Province in southern Vietnam is the first record of the genus outside the northern highlands within the country. We illustrate both Vietnamese species of Parnassia with analytical photographs, and show their distribution on a map. Additionally, we present an updated checklist of the family Celastraceae in Vietnam, which reflects the most recent views on taxonomic boundaries of the family and its genera, and includes discoveries of the last years as well as some earlier reports absent in the previous works. In total, 17 genera and 93 species are accepted in the checklist.

Overall, seven taxa were identified, including two species (Bourrellyodesmus comperei, Xanthidium verrucosum) and one variety (Xanthidium concinnum var. longispinum), which are taxonomic novelties, in addition to other taxa of the desmid flora of Brazil. Taxonomic notes and ecological information were provided for each taxon.

This species is a new record for the flora of Iran. A detailed description, ecology and biogeography of the species are given along with conservation status of the species.
