    Effect of Aqueous-Alcoholic Extract of Ducrosia Anethifolia Boiss on the Fetal Liver of Diabetic Rats

    查看更多>>摘要:Objective:Moshgak(Ducrosia anethifolia)is a wild plant with medicinal value.The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Moshgak on the liver tissue of the diabetic rat fetus.Materials and Methods:In this animal study,the aqueous-alcoholic extract of Moshgak was prepared in the standard method.Forty rats were divided randomly into five groups,including control,sham,and three diabetic groups.The rats were diabetic with intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of streptozotocin(80 mg)and 2 diabetic groups were treated with Moshgak extract(280 and 560 mg/kg/bw)for 19 days.The rats were anesthetized and their blood was taken to measure the blood glucose,insulin,and malondialdehyde.Then,their fetuses were removed.The fetal liver sections were obtained by using the stereological methods.The micrometry of the liver tissue was performed and data were analyzed.Results:The finding showed a statistically significant increase(P<0.01)in the total volume of liver,connective tissue,sinusoid,and hepatocytes in diabetic rats compared to control rats,while these parameters decreased significantly in treated groups with Moshgak.Hepatic cell count hepatic decreased in the treated groups.Furthermore,the changes in blood glucose,malondialdehyde,and insulin in diabetic rats were improved significantly by Moshgak treatment.The dilation of sinusoids,hepatocyte vacuolation,and mild lymphocytosis was observed in all diabetic groups except the treatment group with Moshgak 560 mg/kg/bw.Conclusions:According to obtained results,Moshgak extract was able to compensate partially the changes induced by diabetes in the fetal liver tissue.Therefore,due to the side effects of diabetes during pregnancy,further research on anti-diabetic properties of Moshgak is suggested.

    The Anxiolytic and Antidepressant Effect of Stachys Lavandulifolia in the Experimental Pentylenetetrazole-Induced Rat Model of Acute Seizure

    查看更多>>摘要:Objective:In traditional medicine,Stachys lavandulifolia or mountain tea has been used in the treatment of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.A leaf extract from this plant is also thought to be effective in treating epilepsy as well as other neurological ailments.To assess the effect of S.lavandulifolia extract(SLE),rats were exposed to a stress and anxiety model caused by seizures.Materials and Methods:A challenge dose of pentylenetetrazole(PTZ)(60 mg/kg)was used to induce seizures in male Wistar rats(200-250 g).Animal treated with an intraperitoneal injection of either SLE(50 mg/kg)or sodium valproate(100 mg/kg)alone or in combination 30 min before PTZ challenge.The effect of stress and anxiety was assessed using an open field test(OFT),forced swim test(FST),and elevated plus maze(EPM).At the end of the experiment,anesthesia was used to euthanize rats,and their blood serum was collected for measurements of glutathione(GSH),malondialdehyde(MDA),and GSH peroxidase(GPx).Results:In contrast to the control group,those treated with PTZ exhibited depressive behavior.At 50 mg/kg,SLE provided protection against seizures induced by PTZ.SLE also reduced seizure-induced stress and anxiety,significantly improving FST,EPM,and OFT compared with the PTZ-treated group.By decreasing MDA levels and restoring the antioxidant enzymes GSH and GPx,SLE treatment protects against seizure-induced anxiety and stress.Conclusions:SLE inhibits oxidative stress damage and seizure-induced stress by inhibiting seizures'inhibitory effects.

    查看更多>>摘要:Background:Habb-E-Shifa,Hamdard Sualin,and Hamdard Joshanda traditional herbal medicines may promote host resistance against infection by bacteria,viruses,and fungi which are easily accessible at inexpensive with no complexity.These herbal medicines are used to cure sore throat,cough,fever,lung cancer,and asthma patients in developing South Asian countries.These traditional herbal medicines acted a crucial role in the prevention and control of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Aims and Objectives:This research article aimed at conducting phytochemistry,antimicrobial activity,COVID-19 docking and some spectroscopic(Infrared,Ultraviolet,13C-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(13C-NMR),1H-NMR,and Mass Spectra)characterizations of the polyherbal drugs were carried out.Additionally,In-vitro and In-silico analyses were performed to measure activity against COVID-19.High Performance-Liquid Chromatography(HPLC),Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS),antimicrobial,and docking studies were carried out.The preliminary phytochemical assay and bioactive compounds were screened using HPLC and GC-MS.The study is an attempt to assess the promising effects of selected polyherbal indigenous drugs such as Habb-E-Shifa,Hamdard Sualin,and Hamdard Joshanda phytoconstituents against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2).Materials and Methods:The extract of the selected polyherbal formulations showed high-to-moderate preventive effects on the growth inhibition in the pathogenic bacterium,namely Streptococcus oralis,Staphylococcus aureus,Propionibacterium acnes,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,and Proteus vulgaris,and three fungal Candida albicans,Aspergillus fumigatus,and Aspergillus niger.Further docking study evaluates the pharmacological activity of bioactive chemical compounds with SARS-CoV-2 NSP5(PDB ID:7nxh)and SARS-CoV-2 Omicron spike protein with human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE-2)(PDB ID:7wk6).Results:In this study,for the first time,we attempted to examine some spectroscopic characterization of selected herbals.The total phenol content(1.66,1.55,and 1.13 mg/mL)and total flavonoid content(4.92,0.49,and 0.50 mg/mL)were present in the extracted samples of Habb-E-Shifa(H),Hamdard Joshanda(J),and Hamdard Sualin(S).Studies on COVID-19 docking infer the affnity of the herb's chemical components toward COVID-19 protease and ACE-2 receptor by establishing excellent binding capacity in complex formation.The results confirmed that polyherbal drugs harbor biological activities and thereby highlight that these extracts can serve as a remedy for antimicrobial and COVID-19.Conclusions:The research article confirms the remarkable potential in exhibiting antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive,Gram-negative bacteria and fungi.These herbal medicines such as Habb-E-Shifa(H),Hamdard Joshanda(J),and Hamdard Sualin(S)showed a vital role against SARS-CoV-2 Omicron spike protein with human ACE2(7wk6)and amino acids of SARS-CoV-2 NSP5(7nxh).Our study provides obvious evidence supporting dietary therapy and herbal medicine as potentially effective against SARS-CoV-2.Based on present studies,these herbal products can be introduced as preventive and therapeutic agents fight against coronavirus.
