查看更多>>摘要:Boosting algorithms have been widely utilized in the development of landslide susceptibility mapping(LSM)studies. However, these algorithms possess distinct computational strategies and hyper-parameters,making it challenging to propose an ideal LSM model. To investigate the impact of different boosting algorithms and hyperparameter optimization algorithms on LSM,this study constructed a geospatial database comprising 12 conditioning factors, such as elevation, stratum, and annual average rainfall. The XGBoost(XGB),LightGBM(LGBM),and CatBoost(CB)algorithms were employed to construct the LSM model.Furthermore, the Bayesian optimization(BO),particle swarm optimization(PSO),and Hyperband optimization(HO)algorithms were applied to optimizing the LSM model. The boosting algorithms exhibited varying performances, with CB demonstrating the highest precision, followed by LGBM,and XGB showing poorer precision.Additionally, the hyperparameter optimization algorithms displayed different performances, with HO outperforming PSO and BO showing poorer per-formance.The HO-CB model achieved the highest precision, boasting an accuracy of 0.764,an F1-score of 0.777,an area under the curve(AUC)value of 0.837 for the training set,and an AUC value of 0.863 for the test set.The model was interpreted using SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP),revealing that slope, curvature, topographic wetness index(TWI),degree of relief, and elevation significantly influenced landslides in the study area. This study offers a scientific reference for LSM and disaster prevention research. This study examines the utilization of various boosting algorithms and hyperparameter opti-mization algorithms in Wanzhou District. It proposes the HO-CB-SHAP framework as an effective approach to accurately forecast landslide disasters and interpret LSM models. However, limitations exist concerning the generalizability of the model and the data processing, which require further exploration in subsequent studies.

查看更多>>摘要:Reservoir-induced earthquakes(RIEs)occur frequently in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area(TGRA)and the rock mass strength of the hydro-fluctuation belt(HFB)deteriorates severely due to the reservoir-induced seismic loads.Three models of typical bedded rock slopes(BRSs),i.e.gently(GIS),moderately(MIS),and steeply(SIS)inclined slopes, were proposed according to field investigations. The dynamic response mechanism and stability of the BRSs,affected by the rock mass deterioration of the HFB,were investigated by the shaking table test and the universal distinct element code(UDEC)simulation.Spe-cifically,the amplification coefficient of the peak ground acceleration(PGA)of the slope was gradually attenuated under multiple seismic loads, and the acceleration response showed obvious"surface effect"and"elevation effect"in the horizontal and vertical directions,respectively.The"S-type"cubic function and"steep-rise type"exponential function were used to characterize the cumulative damage evolution of the slope caused by microseismic waves(low seismic waves)and high seismic waves,respectively.Ac-cording to the dynamic responses of the acceleration, cumulative displacement, rock pressure, pore water pressure, damping ratio, natural frequency, stability coefficient, and sliding velocity of the slope, the typical evolution processes of the dynamic cumulative damage and instability failure of the slope were generalized, and the numerical and experimental results were compared.Considering the dynamic effects of the slope height(SH),slope angle(SA),bedding plane thickness(BPT),dip angle of the bedding plane(DABP),dynamic load amplitude(DLA),dynamic load frequency(DLF),height of water level of the hydro-fluctuation belt(HWLHFB),degradation range of the hydro-fluctuation belt(DRHFB),and degra-dation shape of the hydro-fluctuation belt(DSHFB),the sensitivity of factors influencing the slope dy-namic stability using the orthogonal analysis method(OAM)was DLA>DRHFB>SA>SH>DLF>HWLHFB>DSHFB>DABP>BPT.

查看更多>>摘要:Municipal solid waste(MSW)is accumulating over elapsed time across the world, and it is observed in many projects associated with weak soils, such as marl. Therefore, effective solutions to the environ-mental problem are essential.Conventional techniques for stabilizing marl generally use substances such as lime and cement, which could exacerbate pollution. For this, some new stabilizers,e.g.nano-MgO,are used. There are large quantities of marls and MSW in Shiraz City,Iran. The present study aims to evaluate the feasibility of using nano-MgO as a green low-carbon binder to remove MSW from the environment and make construction projects more cost-effective.Consolidated drained shear tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical behaviors of the nano-MgO treated marl specimens at high normal stresses. The marl specimens containing MSW percentages of 15%,25%,35%,and 45%and nano-MgO percentages of 0.25%,0.5%,0.75%,and 1%,were used.It is found that the marl containing 15%and 25%MSW and 0.5%nano-MgO at 28-d curing can perform cation exchange and form new cementitious products. The soils with merely MSW show good performance due to the removal of the kaolinite and the formation of brucite. However, the soil with 25%MSW and 0.5%nano-MgO shows the same strength enhancement as the specimen with the optimal nano-MgO(0.75%)through the formation of dolomite, with a 20.59%increase in strain energy(SE).

查看更多>>摘要:In situ inflow and outflow permeability tests with the BAT probe at Sarapuí Ⅱ soft clay test site are presented.A description of the BAT permeability test is provided, discussing its advantages and short-comings,especially in the case of very soft clays under low stresses.Pore pressures were monitored during probe installation and were found to be slightly lower than piezocone u2 pore pressures, consistent with the position of the filter. The role of filter tip saturation was investigated after the usual saturation procedure provided an unsatisfactory pore pressure response during probe installation.Re-sults show that the vacuum saturation procedure provides adequate response during installation and increases the reliability of the coefficient of permeability determination in early measurements. Both inflow and outflow tests yielded similar results, indicating that careful execution of the test can lead to good test repeatability regardless of the loading condition.Various sequences of alternated inflow and outflow tests have yielded similar results, indicating that soil reconsolidation and filter clogging were negligible in the tests performed.Data are presented concerning the relationship between index pa-rameters and the in situ coefficient of permeability for Sarapuí Ⅱ clay, which plot outside the range of existing databases.

查看更多>>摘要:Nowadays, biopolymer stabilization as a promising eco-friendly approach in soft ground improvement has attracted wide attentions. However, the feasibility of using biopolymer as a green additive of cement-stabilized dredged sediment(CDS)with high water content is still unknown. In this study, guar gum(GG)and xanthan gum(XG)were adopted as typical biopolymers, and a series of unconfined compressive strength(UCS),splitting tensile strength(STS)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical and microstructural properties of XG-and GG-modified CDSs considering several factors including biopolymer modification,binder-soil ratio and water-solid ratio.Furthermore, the micro-mechanisms revealing the evolutions of mechanical properties of biopolymer-modified CDS were analyzed. The results indicate that the addition of XG can effectively improve the strength of CDS,while the GG has a side effect. The XG content of 9%was recommended, which can improve the 7 d-and 28 d-UCSs by 196%and 51.8%,together with the 7 d-and 28 d-STSs by 118.3%and 42.2%,respectively.Increasing the binder-soil ratio or decreasing the water-solid ratio significantly improved the strength gaining but aggravated the brittleness characteristics of CDS.Adding XG to CDS contributed to the formation of microstructure with more compactness and higher cementation degrees of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)-XG-stabilized DS(CXDS).The micro-mechanism models revealing the interactions of multiple media including OPC cementation, biopolymer film bonding and bridging effects inside CXDS were proposed. The key findings confirm the feasibility of XG modification as a green and high-efficiency mean for improving the mechanical properties of CDS.

Effect of movability of water on the low-velocity pre-Darcy flow in clay soil

查看更多>>摘要:Water seepage in soil is a fundamental problem involving various scientific and engineering fields.Ac-cording to the literature,low-velocity water seepage in low-permeability porous media, such as clay, does not follow Darcy's law, also known as pre-Darcy flow. The formation of immovable water due to water adsorption on the pore wall is believed to be responsible for the formation of pre-Darcy flow. However, this view lacks direct solid evidence. To investigate the pre-Darcy water flow in clay, head permeability experiments are conducted on six clay samples with different densities. The results indicate that water seepage in clay at low hydraulic gradients does not follow Darcy's law.A clear nonlinear relationship between flow velocity and hydraulic gradient is observed.Water flow in clay can be divided into the pre-Darcy flow and Darcy flow regions by the critical hydraulic gradient, which is 10-12 for the Albic soil with dry density between 1.3 g/cm3 and 1.8 g/cm3.According to the disjoining pressure theory, immovable water due to water adsorption on the pore wall is the primary reason for water flow devi-ating from Darcy's law in clay. The results indicate that the percentage of movable water ranges from 39.7%to 59.3%for the six samples at a hydraulic gradient of 1.As the hydraulic gradient increases, the percentage of moveable water also increases.Additionally, there is a strong correlation between the percentage of movable water and the variation in hydraulic conductivity with the hydraulic gradient.Furthermore,a quantitative relationship between the percentage of movable water and the hydraulic conductivity has been established. The results of this study suggest that water adsorption on the pore wall not only affects the water movability, but is also closely related to the pre-Darcy flow phenomenon in clay.

Consolidation of high replacement ratio stone column-reinforced ground:Analytical solutions incorporating clogging effect

查看更多>>摘要:The utilization of stone columns has emerged as a popular ground improvement strategy, whereas the drainage performance can be adversely hampered by clogging effect.Despite the ample progress of calculation methods for the consolidation of stone column-improved ground, theoretical investigations into the clogging effect have not been thoroughly explored.Furthermore,it is imperative to involve the column consolidation deformation to mitigate computational error on the consolidation of composite ground with high replacement ratios. In this context,an analytical model accounting for the initial clogging and coupled time and depth-dependent clogging of stone columns is established. Then, the resulting governing equations and analytical solutions are obtained under a new flow continuity rela-tionship to incorporate column consolidation deformation. The accuracy and reliability of the proposed model are illustrated by degradation analysis and case studies with good agreements.Subsequently, the computed results of the current study are juxtaposed against the existing models, and an in-depth assessment of the impacts of several crucial parameters on the consolidation behavior is conducted. The results reveal that ignoring column consolidation deformation leads to an overestimate of the consolidation rate, with maximum error reaching up to 16%as the replacement ratio increases.Furthermore, the initial clogging also has a significant influence on the consolidation performance.Additionally, the increment of depth and time-clogging factors a and b will induce a noticeable retar-dation of the consolidation process, particularly in the later stage.

A spatiotemporal deep learning method for excavation-induced wall deflections

查看更多>>摘要:Data-driven approaches such as neural networks are increasingly used for deep excavations due to the growing amount of available monitoring data in practical projects. However, most neural network models only use the data from a single monitoring point and neglect the spatial relationships between multiple monitoring points.Besides, most models lack flexibility in providing predictions for multiple days after monitoring activity. This study proposes a sequence-to-sequence(seq2seq)two-dimensional(2D)convolutional long short-term memory neural network(S2SCL2D)for predicting the spatiotemporal wall deflections induced by deep excavations. The model utilizes the data from all monitoring points on the entire wall and extracts spatiotemporal features from data by combining the 2D convolutional layers and long short-term memory(LSTM)layers. The S2SCL2D model achieves a long-term prediction of wall deflections through a recursive seq2seq structure. The excavation depth, which has a significant impact on wall deflections,is also considered using a feature fusion method. An excavation project in Hangzhou,China,is used to illustrate the proposed model. The results demonstrate that the S2SCL2D model has superior prediction accuracy and robustness than that of the LSTM and S2SCL1D(one-dimensional)models.The prediction model demonstrates a strong generalizability when applied to an adjacent excavation.Based on the long-term prediction results, practitioners can plan and allocate resources in advance to address the potential engineering issues.
