Taleb is best known as the originator of Black Swan theory, which holds that truly unexpected and disruptive events are by their nature impossible to predict. The world has recently had to adjust to some new obvious facts. The immediate human cost of the war in Ukraine is the most shocking of these. But even if peace is made quickly, and we must hope it is, the ripples that the conflict has spread through markets will reverberate for years or decades to come.
