Applying Confucian moral obligations and preachings,poetry,books and classics in state governance by Hu Yuan is an embodiment of the essence of learning of the Song dynasty,and a guideline for governance and boasts profound implications of political thought.Hu Yuan's such preaching assumes'benevolence,justice,rites and mu-sic'as the political principle,resorting to the great and middle way as the political strategy,pursuing Confucian po-litical ideal of self-cultivation,family regulation,state governance,bringing peace to all under heaven.Hu Yuan's doctrine is important scholarly resources and theoretical footing for Fan Zhongyan and Wang Anshi's political re-form,and is thus widely used in political practice,and affects and influences political reform movements in the Northern Song Dynasty.
