Youwen Shuo has a profound academic foundation in the Northern Song Dynasty.Xu Xuan gave a glyphic analysis of You Wen in his revision of Shuo Wen;Wang Anshi interpreted the meaning of You Wen in his Zi Shuo;Lu Dian applied You Wen in his Pi Ya in exegetic practice and in naming things.Respective discussions made by Xu Xuan,Wang Anshi,and Lu Dian all provide a broad academic backdrop for Wang Zishao to introduce his You-wen Shuo.
