Discussion on the Application of Rare Earth New Materials in Military Industry
Rare earth elements are widely used in military fields such as national defense,military industry,aviation and aerospace due to their irreplaceable optical,electrical,magnetic and thermal properties.Rare earth metals and alloy mate-rials are used in rare earth steel for weapon,weapon warhead materials.Rare earth permanent magnet motor used in avia-tion and aerospace components.Rare earth giant magnetostrictive material used in naval sonar.Rare earth optical materials are used in tanks and lasers.Rare earth superconducting materials are used in electromagnetic guns and combat systems and have important strategic significance.It is pointed out that the application and development of rare earth new materials in the military industry has become an important direction.Relying on the technical resource advantages of the rare earth in-dustry to open up the civilian army industry,not only to improve the added value of rare earth products,but also to improve the national defense capability.
