Study on Cross-Linked Corn Starch Film in Deep Eutectic Solvents
This paper studied the preparation of cross-linked corn starch using citric acid and glutaraldehyde as cross-linking agents, using corn starch as raw material, in thedeep eutectic solvent of choline chloride and ethylene glycol. The molecular structure, crystallinity, and particle morphology of crosslinked corn starch were investigated through FT-IR, SEM, and DSC tests. On the other hand, a cross-linked starch film was prepared and its properties were tested. The results showed that compared with traditional aqueous solution systems, cross-linked corn starch in thedeep eutec-tic solvent had higher cross-linking degree and phase transition temperature. After cross-linking, the starch changed from A-type crystals to amorphous forms, and the particle size increased and the particles adhered to each other. The film made of cross-linked starch in DES has lower water sensitivity, improves the contact angle of the starch film inter-face, and reduces water vapor permeability and light transmittance.
