The Life and Career History of a Prison Scholar Wang Yuanzeng
In the period when Wang Yuanzeng lived,studied and worked,China was in the period of the improvement of the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty and the improvement of the Republic of China.It was the period of the birth and the initial formof Chinese penology,and also the period of the beginning and continuation of the modern transformation of prisons in China.Wang Yuanzeng studied in Japan to study penology.After returning to China,he worked in prison affairs,from the warden to the director of the prison department.Moreover,he was engaged in the theoretical research and teaching of prison educa-tion,and had made outstanding contributions to prison theory and prison practice.
