The Impact of New Urbanization on Regional Economic Development in Anhui Province
Based on the panel data of 16 prefecture-level cities in Anhui Province from 2012 to 2022, this paper establishes an evaluation system for new urbanization and regional economic indicators with the entropy method calculating the weights of each index , and fixed-effect regression model and the mediation model studying the impact and mode of new urbanization on the regional economy. The results show that the new urbanization has a positive impact on the regional economy of Anhui, and the increase of the new urbanization level has significantly promoted the regional economic development of Anhui. The role of new urbanization in promoting the regional economies of the northern, southern and central Anhui has increased in turn. Besides, new urbanization can promote high-quality economic development through industrial structure upgrading. Hence, the government should improve the regional coordination of new urbanization, promote the upgrading of industrial structure, and give full play to the positive role of new urbanization in the regional economy.
