Effects of 2 Different Rootstocks on the Growth and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Carya cathayensis Grafted Seedlings
In this paper,a comparative analysis was made on the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of Carya cathayensisgrafted seedlings with 2 different rootstocks to provide reference for screening out more suitable rootstocks for Carya cathayensisgrafting propa-gation.The results showed that the survival rate of Carya cathayensisgrafted seedlings with C.illinoensisas the rootstock reached 90.26%,extremely significantly higher than those with C.hunanensisas the rootstock. The index including seedling height, basal diam-eter,number of leaves of the latter ones were extremely significantly higher than the former ones. There were extremely significant dif-ferences in Pn,qP,NPQ and Fv/Fm,significantly differences in Gs and less significant differences in Ci,Tr and WUE between the 2 types of grafted seedlings. There was positive correlation between Pn and Gs in the grafted seedlings with C.hunanensisas the rootstock and negative correlation between them with C.illinoensisas the rootstock. The survival rate of the grafted seedling with C.illinoensisas the rootstock was significantly higher than those with C.hunanensisas the rootstock, but the latter grew better. The Pn of the grafted seed-lings with C.illinoensisas the rootstock was than that with C.hunanensisas the rootstock, with higher photosynthetic capacity,transpi-ration rate and water use efficiency, dissipating surplus solar energy and heat, adaptable to dry weather and having higher photoprotec-tive capability, which requires sufficient light and water in raising the grafted seedlings, while appropriate shading is needed for raising the grafted seedlings with C.hunanensisas the rootstock.
