Survey Study on the Composition and Distribution Pattern of Anatidae Waterfowls in Autumn and Winter in Anhui Province
The wetlands of Anhui are in the important East Asia-Australasian Route for migratory birds and rich in biodiversity with habitats of many Anatidae waterfowls for survival and reproduction. In order to know Anatidae resource actualities in Anhui,3 surveys were carried out in October 2023,December 2023 and February 2024 respectively with fixed point observation in 92 wetland units in the province during the wintering period. The results showed that a total of 28 wintering Anatidae species were recorded, including 2 Class I national protected species and 8 Class Ⅱ national protected ones and accounting for 51.85%of all the Anatidae species in China. There were 11 wetland survey units with more than 10 000 Anatidae waterfowls recorded in one single observation and 9 units with more than 5 000 Anatidae waterfowls recorded in an observation. Most geese were distributed in wetland units along the Yangtze River while ducks were mainly distributed in wetlands along the Yangtze and Huaihe River Basins. There were fluctuations in the num-ber and distribution dynamics of the Anatidae waterfowls in the early, middle and late wintering periods, which were also consistent with the migratory characteristics of migratory waterfowls. The study is of great significance in conservation and monitoring and control of epidemic sources and diseases of wintering Anatidae waterfowls in the province,
