Effects of different scion types on the survival rate and growth potential of Pinus massoniana grafting
The selection of high-quality Pinus massoniana spike for off-site grafting is the key to collect and save germplasm resources from the fine provenance or collection areas. The effects of different rootstock diameter, scion diameter and grafting position on the survival rate of Pinus massoniana grafting were analyzed in present study,in order to improve the survival rate of Pinus massoniana grafting and protect germplasm resources. The results showed that the optimal grafting test combination for Pinus massoniana was one with a rootstock diameter of over 1 cm,thick scion strips, and a grafting position 10-20 cm away from the base of the seedling trunk.
