Evaluation of heat resistance in different tree shaped peony varieties
In order to comprehensively evaluate the heat tolerance of tree shaped peony varieties, this study took 24 introduced tree shaped peony varieties as materials and measured 19 indexes such as heat damage index and relative conductivity under high temperature stress in summer, and found that the coefficients of variation among different indexes varied greatly (8.25%-69.32%). The heat tolerance of tree peonies was further evaluated using multivariate statistical methods such as correlation analysis, principal component analysis and cluster analysis, and 24 tree shaped peonies were classified into 4 grades of heat tolerance, including 2 varieties with excellent heat tolerance (Tian E Jiao Zi and Wu Yun Ji Sheng) and 4 varieties with good heat tolerance (Qi Zhuang Shan He, Xin Shi Ji, Hei Niu and Hei Fu Ren), which could be planted in the south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River; the heat damage index, SPAD index, and relative conductivity were selected. 9 indicators such as heat damage index, SPAD value and relative water content were selected as indicators for evaluating the heat tolerance of tree shaped peony. The results of this study provided references for the selection and introduction of tree shaped peony varieties.
