Analysis of physiological characteristics and gene expression of peanut roots under dehydration stress
To investigate the physiological characteristics and gene expression changes of peanut roots under dehydration stress, the peanut seedlings were dehydrated, their root status were observed, their total root length, volume, surface area and other morphological indicators were measured, root tip cells were stained, and root tip ATP(Adenosine 5'-triphosphate)content and mitochondrial related gene expression levels were measured. The results showed that after dehydration stress, the root system was more wilted, with a significant decrease in total length, volume, surface area, and average diameter.A large number of root tip cells died, and the ATP content in the root system was significantly reduced. The expression of mitochondrial related genes were disrupted, which may be due to mitochondrial energy production dysfunction, reduced ATP synthesis, lead to root cell death and root growth inhibition. The research provided a reference for further analyzing the effects of dehydration stress on the mitochondrial function of peanut roots.
