This paper selects the panel data of 11 Southeast Asian countries from 2008 to 2021,and uses the dual fixed effect model and the intermediary effect model to empirically analyze the poverty reduction effect and mechanism of China's OFDI.The results show that:(1)China's OFDI significantly reduces the incidence of poverty in Southeast Asian countries, and the economic growth, the increase of government expenditure, the acceleration of urbanization and the improvement of education level in each country can effectively alleviate local poverty;(2)The poverty reduction effect of China's direct investment in Southeast Asian countries is realized through capital formation, trade promotion, technology spillover and other mechanisms;(3)Based on the micro-investment data of Chinese enterprises,it is found that greenfield investment and transportation investment have more significant effect on poverty reduction.
