On the theme of memory and identity in Morrison's Beloved
In Toni Morrison's Beloved, memory narrative appears repeatedly and is an important theme that cannot be ignored. From the perspective of Jan Assmann and Alaida Assmann's cultural memory theory, the analysis of the novel shows that there is a close relationship between individual memory and collective memory, past memory and reality, and memory plays a key role in identity.Through the exploration of cultural memory and identity in the novel,Morrison aims to arouse people's attention to black culture and history and promote people's deep reflection on race and social issues as well.
