Using research methods such as literature study and SWOT analysis,we explore the dilemmas and paths of retired athletes'career development after their transition to college physical education teachers. The study concluded that:Skills and experience are the athletes'own advantages in their retirement transition;teaching, research ability and poor cultural adaptation are their inherent disadvantages;policies and universities'demand for talents are the external opportunities to promote their group transition;social opinion is the direct threat to their retirement transition. Thus, the unbalanced development strategy of implementing differentiated talent cultivation, simultaneous development of multi-skills and creating local advantages is proposed to avoid its own disadvantages and external threats by grasping the main contradictions and to realize the minimization of hindering factors.
