As medical technology advances and quality of life improves, new expectations are being set for traditional medical practices. Day surgery, with its benefits of shorter hospital stays, reduced medical costs, and quicker postoperative recovery, has increasingly gained attention in China in recent years. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a series of optimal strategies aimed at reducing surgical stress and postoperative complications during the perioperative period, based on evidence-based medicine. These strategies align with the goals of day surgery, which are to accelerate patient recovery and enhance safety and comfort. The discipline of anesthesia, also known as perioperative medicine, is intimately linked with the field of surgery, and the two disciplines mutually enhance and evolve together. In this review, we delve into the management of anesthesia for day surgery within the framework of the ERAS concept, providing a reference for surgeons to carry out day surgery safely and comfortably under the ERAS paradigm.
