Comparison of therapeutic effects between transabdominal preperitoneal hernia repair and total extraperitoneal hernia repair in the treatment of bilateral inguinal hernias
Objective:To analyze and compare the effectiveness of transabdominal anterior peritoneal hernia repair(TAPP)and total extraperitoneal hernia repair(TEP)in the treatment of bilateral inguinal hernias.Methods:100 patients with bilateral inguinal hernia admitted were selected and divided into TAPP group and TEP group based on different surgical methods, with 50 patients in each group.Relevant indicators during and after surgery were observed in both groups, and the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results:The average surgical time and the average treatment cost of TAPP group patients which was higher than that of TEP group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in intraoperative bleeding volume, pain duration, postoperative exhaust time, hospital stay, and visual analogue pain scale(VAS)between the TAPP group and the TEP group. There was no significant difference in the effective rate and recurrence rate between the two groups of surgeries(P>0.05).Conclusion:Both TAPP and TEP proved safe and effective for the treatment of bilateral inguinal hernia.Surgical method should be taken based on the clinical situation of each patient.
